Men's Fashion - Four Things You Should Never Wear to Work

Deciding what to wear to the office shouldn't be a huge issue. If you work in a traditional office with a business dress code, a suit, tie and a great pair of silver cuff links is probably you're standard attire. It's when the dress code falls to business casual that confusion sets in. What can I wear? Is this okay for the office? Do I look too casual? The line between appropriate and not so appropriate attire for the work place is thin and even the cautious can fall victim to fashion disasters. When it comes to fashion for the work place, knowing is half the battle and that includes know what not to wear. If you're not sure what to wear to work then check out this list of five things you should never put on before you put in your eight hours.

  • Shorts

No matter how sunny and warm it is outside shorts are never appropriate office attire. Never. Even for those of you who are luck enough to work for companies with relatively loose dress codes, shorts are just going to far. Not only do they lack the class a businessman should have but they also subject the rest of the company to you're legs all day and trust me no matter how in shape you may be, you're legs just aren't something that should be out there for all to see. Even if you think shorts are okay for the office think about what you will wear with them. Do you're self a favor and stick to pants at all cost.

  • Company Apparel

We get it. You love where you work and you're willing to show you're support by wearing everything and anything with the company logo. Unfortunately, you're overwhelming support of the company often comes off as odd and inappropriate. Unless you're told to wear that polo with the companies logo, keep it in the closet and choose something else. If you're company wanted you to wear a uniform they would have told you.

  • Hats

You and everyone else you know may think you look terrific in a hat but that doesn't make it office appropriate. Regardless of how stylish you're cap is leave it off until you leave the building. Besides that fact that you run the risk of looking to casual, there are always traditionalists who believe you're cap wearing ways to be offensive and uncalled for.

  • Sandals

The mere idea of sandals in the work place, particularly men in sandals is a bit of a turn off. While women may be able to pull off a cute pair of work appropriate sandals, it's not as easy for men to achieve the same look. When it comes to men and sandals or flip flops, there really is no style available that can be considered appropriate for the work place so leave them for the beach or save them for bumming around the house.
