Famous Subliminal Messages in Music

There have been many rumors and speculations that famous songs actually contain subliminal messages. Subliminal messages used in songs are verbal or aural in natured, and are delivered either very quickly or backwards at such low volumes that the audience is unaware of receiving it. Such charges are made not just to rock music, but even Christian songs as well!

A famous subliminal message in music would be the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, that apparently when played backwards contains satanic messages. This is a form of reverse subliminal messages. More often than not, these are inserted for entertainment purposes or to increase sales of the album. It has been speculated that Led Zeppelin inserted the message as they thought that if people played the record backwards enough times, it would spoil it and hence lead to increased sales for them!

Other famous subliminal messages in music include one involving The Beatles, specifically the song titled Come Together, which is said to be about sex with John Lennon. Even Britney Spears, in the song "I'm not that Innocent" had supposedly inserted the message "Sleep with me I'm not too young" when played backwards! The rock group Queen's song "Another One Bites the Dust" is also purported to be talking about drug use when played backwards.

Several years ago, there was a court case involving the suing of a rock group "Judas Priest" which had inserted the subliminal message of "Do it" in their song, which the parents felt induced their children to commit suicide.

Before getting carried away and panicking about the various songs that you have listened to before, the real issue is not whether there are actual messages included in songs, but if these have any influence on the audience. If you were to hear such a message played backwards, would you be able to understand it, or subconsciously alter your behavior?

Research has shown that when participants listened to messages recorded backwards, they are unable to decode what it actually was when played normally. Their behavior was not altered in any noticeable way. After all, if listening to metal bands that proclaim death and gore do not induce people to go on a murder rampage, it is unlikely that such subliminal messages in music can have significant adverse effects on the audience.

Body Jewelry and Today's Stars

Body jewelry and body piercing practices have been observed by various groups of people all over the world throughout the centuries. For some tribes it is a rite of passage, for others it is an indicator of social status. For many, body jewelry is used to enhance personal beauty and as devices to rise above the rest of the pack. Today's celebrities have been at the forefront in making body jewelry much more mainstream and acceptable - even desirable.

"What's a little pain if it'll make me look hip" seems to be the prevalent thought among the young and the old who are turning out in increasing numbers to participate in the body jewelry trend. Not so long ago, only punk rockers and those with 'bad boy' images, such as former NBA star Dennis Rodman, were seen sporting body piercings in mainstream media. Today, body jewelry is endorsed by pop celebrities with mass followings, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Fiona Apple and Lenny Kravitz. Britney Spears has an extensive collection of navel rings, and Christina Aguilera is said to wear the most interesting body jewelry in areas that are covered by her clothing.

Some celebrities with an otherwise 'serious' image are nevertheless fans of body art. Actress Camryn Manheim of the television drama 'The Firm' sports multiple earrings on the cartilage of one ear. Gillian Anderson, who played the cynical and skeptical FBI agent Dana Scully in the television series 'The X Files,' has a pierced belly button. Performers with tongue piercings include former Spice Girl Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and dancer Jimmy Gulzar, while supermodels Christy Turlington and James King are proud of their piercings. Some sports celebrities also wear body jewelry, including WWE wrestlers A-Train and Billy Gunn, as well as football player Ricky Williams.

Body jewelry has also been used throughout the ages to enhance sensation, and by extension, sexuality and sexual performance. Genital and nipple piercing in both men and women, while not as widespread as nose, ear, tongue, navel and eyebrow piercing, still has its own following. Singer Janet Jackson has stated on the Oprah Winfrey talk show that she likes the sensation that her pierced nipples give her. Other celebrities with pierced nipples include rock musicians Axl Rose and Tommy Lee, Icelandic singer Bjork and rapper Lil Kim. Pop princess Britney Spears likewise has a pierced nipple.

Celebrities, whether they like it or not, are oftentimes looked up to as role models and the influence they wield over their fans is considerable. Fans emulate their idols' preferences: from clothing, mannerism, even to the wearing of body jewelry. More and more, they are playing a leading role not only in the direction of today's fashion trends but also in the shaping of modern pop culture.

Celtic Music - The Tin Whistle

The Tin Whistle (sometimes also a PENNYWHISTLE) is a simple and inexpensive instrument. It is simply a metal tube with six finger holes and a mouthpiece (similar to a recorder), it has a range of about two octaves. The costs range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars - despite playing some of the best players, only the cheaper brands.

The tin whistle is a simple tool - and it is easy to play and easy to play soft melodies. But - it is not easy to master! The instrument cancheap, but you must pay for the championship ... by practicing! The haunting melodies whistling from the movie "Titanic" show the deep soul found in this instrument.

This is a common instrument made of metal (usually brass made) with a pipe-shaped mouthpiece. By opening the game (not for each of the six finger holes), then for each finger hole again, you can play the 7 notes in a diatonic (a simple Do-Re-Mi scale - mainly the white keys) on a piano scale. Blow a little bitdifficult and you get to play the same note but an octave higher. Although it is a diatonic instrument, you can achieve sharps and flats for over half of finger holes.

Since it is essentially open only two notes - one note, then the note an octave higher if you blow - any tin whistle is said to represent a specific key. For example, if the open tone sounds like a "D", then the pipe is as in the key of D. Many players wear a small group of pipes are in thecommonly used buttons.

Some people do not know, you can even tune a tin whistle! They do this by using the metal barrel of the whistle in and out the nozzle head. Some pipes have their heads firmly in the running adhesives. You can usually loosen the glue that came by the part under running water. Do not use boiling water - this can melt the plastic whistle head!

Key signatures are often found in Celtic music, "D Major" and "G major". By default, all tin areWhistles are in a major key (because they play a diatonic scale). However, if you start your scale) are covered with all the finger holes (open instead of all the finger holes, then you get one step higher than a diatonic scale - the results in a minor key-! For example, a tin whistle in "D" in E minor, play when you start by clicking the scales, all finger holes. Interestingly enough, the chord progression "in E minor" and "D Major" is commonly found in Celtic music. (This isthe same chord progression in "What would you use with a Drunken Sailor.") A whistle in G Major Do "could easily have played in A minor (A minor and G) is another commonly occurring chord progression.
