History Of Hip-Hop

Hip-hop music or rap music is an admired and famous style or genre of music in the USA. This well-known music genre is made up of two components, rapping and record scratching. Rapping is also known as MCing and DJing, which comprises of audio mixing. These two main components combined with graffiti and break dancing form the four core elements of hip-hop.

Hip-hop was initiated as a cultural movement by inner-city youth, mostly Latinos, Hispanics, and African Americans in New York City, in the early seventies. The word "rap" was derived in the sixties, from a slang word that meant conversation.

Hip-hop has two main historical eras, the old school hip-hop era from 1970-1985 and the golden age hip-hop era from 1985-1993. The golden age of hip-hop began only when it entered the mainstream of music and it consolidated the sounds of the West Coast and the East Coast.

The origin of hip-hop music is from African American and West African music. Contributions of griots like The Last Poets, Jalal Mansur Nurriddin, and Gil Scott-Heron were significant in a big way for the advent of hip-hop in the 1960s. Hip-hop had originally begun in the Bronx. Funk and soul music were played a lot in block parties. In the beginning, the DJs at these parties began separating the percussion breaks from hit songs. They started realizing that these breaks were more entertaining and groovy. This technique had become widespread in Jamaica and had spread considerably in the New York community via the Jamaican immigrants.

Kool DJ Herc and Grandmaster Flash were the pioneers in the hip-hop industry and other DJs had extended the short percussion interludes of funk records and created a more danceable sound. As a result, remixes had become popular with the advent of mixing and scratching techniques. Many styles of hip-hop had developed in the golden age of hip-hop.

At present, hip-hop is enjoyed all around the world. In spite, of all the controversies created by hip-hop artists they are still growing in number. Hip-hop music is sold all over the world in stores and even online.

Legal Free Music Downloads - Songs You Want at No Cost

It's all over the news these days. Download music from the Internet and you could be sued, fined, and/or go to jail. The truth is free music downloads, done correctly, are completely legal.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) aggressively prosecutes copyright violators. And well they should - it's piracy plain and simple. But there are millions of free mp3 downloads legally available. RIAA doesn't want you to know this and wants you to believe any music downloads you don't pay for are illegal.

You'll quickly attract RIAA's attention by using file-sharing services like Kazaa and Grokster. The technology is not illegal (yet), but using it to share downloadable music is at best a grey area. And make no mistake, RIAA can and will find you!

How do I get Free Downloadable Music without breaking the law?

First understand the difference between restricted and unrestricted copyrights. Nearly all songs have an artist or record label copyright. Many copyrights restrict gratis downloads. But many musicians want to share their music at no charge through free downloads.

Why, you might ask? Some are unknowns looking for exposure, but many famous musicians know it's in their interest to offer free downloads. It inevitably leads to more CD, concert and merchandise sales. Plus it boosts their image and popularity.

Most music download services offer a free trial period when you can download songs at no cost. Cancel before the trial ends and the songs cost nothing. Of course they hope you'll stay and pay the monthly membership fee, which in reality is a cheap way to expand your music collection.

Study the membership terms as some sites only allow use of the downloads while you are a member. In addition, a "free music" search will lead to sites - by or for musicians - that offer mp3 downloads for free.

It is like giving back to the industry which has made the person famous and rich.

Choose your genre

Before starting to create your own music with Dub Turbo, choose the genre that you are comfortable with. Of' course, there is the possibility of creating your own genre, but before jumping head long into the water it is better to test the water with your toe. Once you are more comfortable, you can move on to creating your own genres. So first decide on a genre that you love and are comfortable with. Remember, a work that is well begun in half complete. Then decide on what will make that genre special and alluring. Once this ground work is done, you are ready to roll.

Creating your beats:

There are three crucial steps that need to be followed for creating a beat in any genre. They include

· Creating a baseline · Creating the audio loops · Laying out the midi drum patterns.

Creating the baseline is the integral step in any beat creation process, because this lays the foundation. This is the skeleton upon which the other aspects of your music will revolve about. So make sure that the baseline is built to your satisfaction. Moreover this baseline is the sequence that will be played more often in a repeating loop and you will want to make sure that something that is played repeatedly is pleasing and alluring to the ears.

Audio loops form a primary component in genres like rap and hip hop. To create the audio loops, you can use whatever instrument your creativity demands. Besides you can also add a lot of special effects to transform the mood and the tone of the music. You can compress, stretch and create a plethora of other such effects with Dub Turbo and improve the nuances of your music composition. Once you have created your first audio loop, you can add many other audio loops as you wish. After the first audio loop is done, creating the other audio loops will not be as time-consuming as the first one.

Then we have the midi drum patterns. You can use as many and as varied midi drum patterns as you wish, but make sure that you don't make the final effect a discordant cacophony. They can be set in a pattern of a group of unique notes and can be made to play as a secondary baseline.

Once these three components are created to the best of your ability and creativity, your first beat is all ready to rock!

Top 10 Romantic Anniversary Ideas

It can be hard to think up new romantic anniversary ideas. But believe me, its worth making the change from the usual "dinner and a movie" routine..

An anniversary is the best opportunity of the year to show your partner how much they mean to you.

Here are some great romantic anniversary ideas to keep you from getting stuck in a romance rut. Or maybe even help rekindle an old flame.

1. Take them out for a romantic nighttime picnic. Find a spot that overlooks an amazing view, like a natural lake or cityscape, or the top of a tall hill. Create a beautiful backdrop with the view you choose.

Pack your picnic full of goodies that you know your partner loves. Like wine, chocolate covered strawberries, hot chocolate, cookies, a salad or some homemade sandwiches.

2. Make them a home cooked candlelight dinner. Try these tips to make it extra special:

* Enhance the mood by playing romantic songs in the background

* Dim the lights and have candles create a romantic glow

* Fill the room with their favorite type of flowers

* Scatter rose petals on the dinner table

3. Bring back fond memories by taking your partner back to the place that you had your first date. Recreate it. Make everything that you do the exact same as that special night. Recreate all of the tiniest little details, such as music you listened to, places you went, the car you drove, etc.

Pay close attention to all the small details. The more thought your partner will know you put into it.

4. Secretly take your partner on a surprise romantic weekend getaway.
To make it a surprise, make it seem like you're taking them on a usual day trip that's not very exciting. Then take them to the airport and surprise them with the tickets to the romantic destination of their dreams.
To make it all run smooth, you can pre-pack their things, and arrange for them to have time off at work.

5. Gather up all of the old pictures ever taken of the two of you and make a romantic photo album or scrapbook. This gift is very thoughtful, and can be done by you alone, or you can spend an evening making it together. When you're done, the album should be full of special memories the two of you can cherish forever.

6. Take your partner to the neighborhood that they grew up in. Let them see their old home, where they went to school, and any other places they have mentioned over the years. This should bring back a flood of precious memories for them that they can share with you.

7. Show up at their work with an oversized box of chocolates and flowers. Do it right in front of everyone so they will all see. But only do it if they will like the special attention. Don't do it if they are the type of person that will get embarrassed.

8. Create a romantic bedroom makeover. Its probably something your partner will never expect.

Use soft and silky fabrics, rose petals, scented candles, romantic music, and top it all off with an intimate sensual massage.

9. Go for a romantic photo shoot together. This will give you sensual and romantic photos that will last a lifetime! (A common favorite are black and white photos).
You can make them as sexy, or romantic as you like.

There are lots of photographers to choose from. So search around until you find one that suites what you're looking for.

10. Print some free romantic love coupons to give to your partner. They're fun and flirty, and you can find them for free (see the website below). Or you can purchase them at any love store. Not only are they thoughtful, but you can customize them and choose to print off whichever romantic gestures you like.

I hope these romantic anniversary ideas have helped you find the best way for you to show your love. No matter what you choose to do, or how you do it. If you do it for them you can't go wrong!

Nokia C5-03 Review

It wasn't long ago when Nokia launched its new line-up of phones, the C-Series. Currently being the most dominant cell phone manufacturer, Nokia has already released quite a number of successful phones to this series, and has also just announced its latest addition to it, the C5-03. Now, it must be noted that the Nokia C5-03 is not to be confused with the previously released Nokia C5. In short, the device has quite some neat features which are simple to use but covers all of the essentials for modern-day phones and at the same time comes at an affordable price.

In terms of design, the C5-03 looks very stylish and comes in a number of vibrant & variant colours.

The C5-03 features a neat 3.2 inch TFT resistive touchscreen which features a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. Although this display can't exactly match up to the ones on the latest smartphones today, but should be sufficient for the average user. There is also a Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and Proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The depressing part though, is that the operating system on the Nokia C5-03 is Symbian ^1 aka S60 5th edition touch edition. Nokia has already pushed some of their other smartphones to Symbian ^3, and is it hence disappointing that they did not do the same with the C5-03. Despite that, there's Nokia Messaging pre-installed, Mail for Exchange support, Ovi Mail, Ovi Store and Ovi Music Integration. Millions of other supported applications are also available from the Ovi Store.

The new C5-03 flaunts an impressive 5 Mega Pixel Camera, but it is of fixed focus and there is no flash to accompany it. The Image quality is what we can come to expect from an average 5 Mega Pixel Camera. A very nifty feature that's available though is Geo-tagging. Apart from images, video Recording is supported at an not so impressive resolution of 640x480 at 15 frames per second and save them in H.263 or MPEG-4 formats. Yet again, the lack of flash shows, as the video recording isn't exactly in top notch quality, even for the supported resolution.

Storage wise, the C5-03 is impressive for a phone with mid-range features. There's only 40MB of internal user memory, but there is a Micro SD card slot, hence it makes the memory expandable up to 16 GB with Micro SD Cards.

The Biggest Surprize is with the battery life. Nokia has outdone themselves in this department by offering a 1000 mAh battery to a phone that has controlled and limited battery consumption. The result is an extremely long standby time of up to 24-25 days. And a talk time of 11.5 hours on 2G networks and 5 hours on 3G networks.

Nokia has managed to offer quite some connectivity options on the C5-03 with support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri-band 3G with HSDPA (10.2Mbps) and HSUPA (2Mbps), A-GPS and Bluetooth 2.0.

Priced at a surprisingly affordable $237, the Nokia C5-03 is sure sell like hotcakes when it releases towards the end of this year. It might not be able to compete with the other smartphones in the market, but it definitely might be just the cheapest smartphone out there, with all the essential features.

The Funeral of George Best

In death, as in life, George Best was setting records galore at his funeral. On a filthy Belfast day where it rarely stopped raining, hundreds of thousands of people turned out to say one final farewell to their most famous son.

For one day at least this secularly divided society was not green, nor orange, but quite decisively, red, the red of Manchester United Football Club, the club where Mister Best imperiously strode the world's football fields for ten glorious years.

In scenes eerily reminiscent of Princess Diana's funeral, the crowds threw flowers and football scarves on to the hearse, and scarves from dozens of different clubs too, Celtic, Rangers, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City, some of United's fiercest rivals among them. The driver was frequently forced to stop to clear the windscreen.

And the funeral service that was held in the Stormont government building was the first ever funeral to be held there. Some 32,000 souls were allowed into the grounds, to watch the service on giant screens standing in the rain, and an uncountable number lined the streets outside. The flags on that vast sombre building flew at half-mast, the first time this has ever occurred for a commoner, for this was, in all but name, a State Funeral.

Like everything else during the day, the service was memorable. The songs and hymns were beautifully sung and included the Beatles, "The Long and Winding Road", so appropriate as George was known as the "fifth Beatle", Don MacLean's "Vincent", where the last line was predictably amended to "I could have told you Georgie," the huge Westlife single, the band from the Irish Republic, "You raise me up", and all topped off with the football hymn "Abide with me."

Dennis Law, the Lawman himself, and one of Best's colleagues in the 1968 European Cup winning side, and himself a European footballer of the year, gave one of the readings, and after that the coffin was driven away through the still waiting crowds to a private family burial where all cameras were barred.

And did the Glazer family from Florida, the club's new owners, choose to attend the proceedings? Well of course they did not, for they are not football people, and they would not understand what George Best meant to the supporters, or the people of Northern Ireland, or that George Best was instrumental in raising Manchester United above ordinary football clubs. Their ground is known as the Theatre of Dreams, and George Best is one of the primary reasons for that. Manchester United FC is worth the three quarters of a billion pounds the Glazer family paid for it, because of people like George Best and Dennis Law, and Bobby Charlton, and those kids who died in the 1958 Munich Air Disaster, and the top players who led United to that unforgettable treble in 1999.

The Glazers made a big mistake in not attending the funeral, nor the minute's silence held at the ground against West Bromwich Albion. This was a poor decision, and at best they have been badly advised. The family have signally failed to win the trust and approval of the massive support, and they have a lot of work to do, if they aim to achieve this.

In a land that has witnessed far too many funerals, this was the biggest ceremony ever to be held in the Province, and it will be long remembered by all who saw it. And yet this funeral was quite different. There were no shots fired over the graveside, there was no religious division, because George Best truly represented everyone in Ulster. He was above sectarianism and would have no truck with it. George Best will be remembered for as long as people who follow the game remain alive, and for as long as future generations are able to watch the old grainy pictures. George Best, the greatest footballer Europe has ever produced.

How to Read Body Language - Top 10 Tips

Interested in learning how to read body language? Would you like to be able to tell when people are lying and understand people's intentions? This article will provide you with the top 10 tips for reading body language.

I feel Body Language is the most important language you can learn. It bypasses the verbal communication barriers and gives you an insight into what others might be thinking, or what actions they are likely to take.

Remember that the art of being able to read body language is to be able to look at some one, pick up the signals, and at the same time not let on to that person you are doing this. If you do the person will become uncomfortable.

Tip 1. - Eyes

Dilated pupils - the person is interested in the topic.

People say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. They can tell so much information about the person if you know what you are looking for. As in most situations, the same signal can be interpreted in a different way. It depends entirely on the circumstances at hand. The example above could also mean that the person is on drugs, or it could mean that they are focused.

Tip 2. - Hands

Open palm.- the person is relaxed and comfortable.

The hands have many expressions and are a good place to start when learning how to read body language. Generally when some ones hands are open it means that their defenses are relaxed.

Tip 3 - Mimicking

When you are talking to someone, if they are mimicking your body position and action it means that they are comfortable in the situation and most likely interested by you and what you are saying.

Tip 4 - Eyes

If someone's eyes are gazing to the side it is a trait that they are feeling guilty. Likewise if they are gazing down this express's shame. Remember the eyes have so many meanings and it's easy to make the wrong evaluation. Practice makes perfect.

Tip 5 - Arms

The main two expressions with arms is that they are either closed (folded) or open. When folded the person is possibly angry or disapproving. When their arms are open the person is in an honest position and is accepting of the situation.

Tip 6 - Rubbing of the Chin

If someone is rubbing their chin it generally means that they are thinking.

Tip 7 - Feet

When you are in conversation with someone you can tell if they are comfortable and interested by what you are saying by their feet position. When standing opposite one another the other persons feet are facing in your direction. This means that they are comfortable and their head and eyes will also be focused on you.

When standing opposite someone their feet are pointing away and their head and eyes are not focused on you. They will most likely be nodding and agreeing with a fake smile. This means that the person n question is not interested and might even feel uncomfortable in the situation.

Tip 8 - Legs

When stood up Legs are a good indicator of how confident someone is. If someone is standing with their legs shoulder width apart they are relaxed. If they are standing with a stance wider than that they are a confident and are in a grounded position to show they are in control.

When stood up with legs crossed the person is probably shy.

When sitting down if the legs are crossed it shows the person is in protective mode. This is very much used alongside crossed arm action.

If the legs are open when the person is seated then they are in a relaxed position. The same as when standing.

Tip 9 - Fingers

Fingers can create many gestures and are great for reading body language. A pointing finger can either be someone pointing to a item or place, it can also indicate anger. If someone is curling their fingers tightly they are usually pleading for some thing.

Drumming or tapping with the fingers indicates frustration. The faster the beating, the greater the frustration and tension inside the person.

Tip 10 - Eyebrows

The eyebrows have many uses. Listed below are some examples. When the eye brows are raised, normally the person is shocked or surprised. The greater the surprise the more raised they will be. When someone flicks their eye brow up and down quickly they are greeting someone else or are showing they have acknowledged them.

I hope you have enjoyed learning how to read body language tips. Remember reading body language is not a skill that can be learned over night. The more you practice the easier it will become and the more subtle you will be able to do it.

Top 10 Signs Of Cheating Men - Here They Are!

There are signs of cheating men that are there and shouldn't be ignored. If you are reading this article then you may already suspect your man is having an affair. It has been reported that over 70% of the women that suspected their spouse was cheating was right. That's an astonishing percentage. Men will try and cover their tracks, but there are just too many signs for them to cover them all.

Signs of Cheating Men

1. You get that gut feeling that tells you he's cheating on you. Things just aren't adding up. You all of sudden feel the need to go through his belongings almost expecting to find something.

2. When you question your man he gets very defensive. He might even get mad at you to throw you off. He is hoping that you will put your thoughts of infidelity to rest if you are afraid to ask about it.

3. His stories aren't making sense anymore. This is because he will make up a story at that time and for the moment not realizing that the date or times don't add up. He will sometimes forget what he told 3 days ago. So make a mental note and ask again casually in 3 days. Work will seem to pop up a lot to cover time lapses. This is classic. I was the hardest working man when I was cheating!

4. You are feeling that dis-connected feeling within your relationship. Remember that see-saw back in the school yard. When one side went up, you know where the other side was. This is usually the same when your mate is having an affair. Many times there is a deeper problem in the relationship that would need to be fixed anyhow if you are to truly be happy. Although you are not to blame for someone stepping out on a relationship, infidelity is usually a symptom of a deeper problem.

5. You discover e-mail accounts that you didn't know existed. He will refuse to give you access to his email account. He's not stupid! Is he?

6. He doesn't invite you around his friends, company events, and other social activities. Is he cheating at work? It can be worse than a nightclub. There will probably be less of a chance that he is cheating at a night club.

7. Unusual mood swings. These are one of many signs of cheating men that is caused by the internal conflict and struggle that you man is going through during his time of infidelity.

8. Lack of intimacy. This doesn't always have to be in the form of sex. It can be a decline of touching, cuddling, holding hands or kissing.

9. The sex frequency has changed! Yup, I remember a conversation with a man in a night club many years ago and what he told me was.

"If you remember one thing, remember that if your wife is use to having sex three times a week, it should never fall below three. It can be more sometimes but never less!"

He had this sign covered. The problem is that many men will have a few signs covered, but there are just too many to hide.

10. He doesn't answers his cell phone around you. A way to tell if your boyfriend is cheating is if he always turns his ringer off around you or walks away from you so that you can't hear his conversation. This should be a major warning light in your relationship. If he receives calls at odd hours or speaks on the phone in a strange manner could also be signs he is cheating.

There is not quite any order to these signs of cheating men, but if you are seeing any of them, you should monitor your relationship closely. Make mental notes as well as written notes to jot down things that come to your mind or maybe a story that doesn't make sense. You can always check back later after you've asked your man again to see if you got the same answer. They will forget their lies a lot of times!

Good Luck and be sure to come back for more signs of cheating men.

Best Jazz Albums of All Time - My Top 10 List

1) Kind of Blue -Miles Davis

Yes this is probably the number one selling jazz album of all time. Some say it IS the best jazz album of all time. Did you know that the musicians didn't even rehearse for the recording session? Miles just showed up to the Blue Note session with some melodies and chords and proceeded to record each song in one take... that's how Miles liked to do it... he wanted everything to be spontaneous. Needless to say, everyone played brilliantly. There was so much talent and feeling that there was just no need for many takes. The songs consist of simple melodies and there is so much space yet also deep emotion. It is a pleasure to listen to and feel this album.

2) A Love Supreme -John Coltrane

This album completely changed the jazz world in 1965 and even today it's effects can be found in many musical styles, not just jazz. Coltrane evolves from the extremely complex and dense harmonic language he had mastered with Miles Davis and Monk and just played with pure, raw passion. The four songs on this album are simultaneously filled emotions of anger, joy, sadness, ecstasy, tragedy and triumph. I know of many different types of artists such as writers or painters who use this album to inspire energy and passion from within themselves for their own personal art. This album also inspired a revolution in Coltrane's playing as he played with this same organic raw intensity for the rest of his life.

3) Time Out -Dave Brubeck

This was the first instrumental jazz album to sell over a 1,000,000 copies. 'Take 5' was even a number one hit on Billboard's charts which is a serious feat for any jazz song (and any song in 5/4!). Brubeck uses rhythmic influences from Eastern Europe to create a very new sound in the jazz style. The complex rhythms he uses sound very natural and are easy to listen to, probably the reason for his success. This one is guaranteed to please and intrigue it's listeners.

4) Ellington at Newport -Duke Ellington

Here's a historic concert that has a wonderful background story... It was 1956 and many big bands were failing because of the rise of bebop and modern small group jazz. So at the 3rd annual Newport Jazz Festival, Ellington tried hard to please the crowd with new suites and new arrangements, but the crowd was very sedated as usual. Then finally on a two section song, Dimuendo and Crescendo in Blue, Duke had the two sections connect with a sax solo by Paul Gonzalves and him told to play the solo as long as wanted to. He usually only took a couple choruses but this time Gonzalves took a 27 chorus solo that eventually had the crowd off it's feet and dancing! This changed the face of jazz solos and as well as gave Duke some new found success. Duke's band continued in this popularity for 18 more years.

5) Jazz at Massey Hall -Charlie Parker

This album often appears reissued under the name "The Greatest Concert Ever". It is an all star lineup of Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach. These guys were all involved in the creation of bebop about 15 years before this concert date (1953) and thus were all seasoned veterans by the time of the concert. Also this was the only time these five would record together and everyone plays amazingly. A lot of earlier bebop recordings suffered from sound quality but this one sounds very good for a live concert.

6) Headhunters -Herbie Hancock

When I first heard this album I felt I had finally found that perfect "sound" I had been searching for my whole life. Some critics and pure acoustic jazz-heads say this album is not jazz, but I must disagree. Others do too, this album was so popular that it quickly sold over a million copies after it's release in 1973. It's simple, funky, extremely enjoyable, and AMAZING! Listen to it over and over for maximum satisfaction.

7) Blue Train -John Coltrane

Recorded in 1957, this album was Coltrane's first album as a leader. It's very interesting to hear how Coltrane was playing before he started heading to the freer, passionate playing that he evolved to in the 60's. Did you know that ten years earlier, Coltrane was considered just a mediocre player? He studied with others and performed SO MUCH with Miles. He was known to constantly practice after gigs late into the night to become the player he was on this album... and he continually improved after this recording! I love this album because it has such a solid, classic jazz sound with great musicians and great originals by Coltrane himself.

8) Getz/Gilberto -Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto

So Herbie Hancock won a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2008, the last jazz album to win the award was this one in 1965. It created the Bossa Nova craze in the United States and is one of the best selling jazz records of all time. Stan Getz, Joao and Astrud Gilberto are extremely graceful and intimate as they float along through this wonderful material composed by the famous Antonio Carlos Jobim. I think the best word to describe this album is relaxing.

9) Mingus Ah Um -Charles Mingus

Charles Mingus had a way of making his bands sound lush, original, and of course swing like crazy. This album features many tribute songs to former jazz legends that are guaranteed to get your foot tapping and your fingers snapping! Also there are some amazing ballads filled with highly colorful and emotional horn arrangements. I love to listen to and jam the song Fables of Faubus, a track dedicated to the infamous former governor of Arkansas who took a stand against integration in schools in 1957, the music says it just right.

10) Concert by the Sea -Errol Garner

Errol Garner is a beast. This may be because he can't read a note of written music and therefore must rely on his hearing to guide him to what sounds good. Well he certainly knows what that is because this album is incredibly interesting both harmonically and rhythmically. His left hand swings so hard that it really is on another level of most all pianists. He is technically fluent and plays extremely extravagant arrangements of many well-loved standards like Autumn Leaves and I'll Remember April.

My Favorite Top 10 Comedy Songs

Since music is my background and has been since the age of 9 and that I have been a comedian since 1980, I felt it only fitting that I do a Top 10 list of my favorite comedy songs. There have been so many novelty songs on the charts and in movies over the years and I hope I can remember all the ones that I have enjoyed. I will surely do my best to cover all of them. If I forget any of yours, let me know I and will update my list. I will just go through most of them and then put them in my list. With all that being said, here we go:

Monty Python has provided numerous songs that I have loved over the years; Sit On My Face, Brave Sir Robin, Look On The Bright Side Of Life and of course their infamous The Lumberjack Song. I also loved the theme song from their old television shows, Monty Python's Flying Circus. It was said by George Harrison that he had felt that when the Beatles broke up, Python had taken the baton, so to speak, and continued with the same aura and spirit. I agree totally. Their shows, movies and songs are classics and so was the play Spamalot, which I thought was absolutely hysterical and brilliant.

Mel Brooks has been terrific at supplying us with great comedy songs and theme songs. Blazing Saddles and I'm Tired from the movie Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety from the movie of the same name, Springtime For Hitler and Prisoners In Love from The Producers, and Putting On The Ritz from Young Frankenstein. Mr. Brooks never ceases to amaze me with his talent and sense of humor.

Ray Stevens has written and performed many, many great comedy songs throughout his illustrious career. Please Mr. Custer, The Streak, Ahab The Arab, Harry The Hairy Ape and one of my favorite titles of all time that they actually were able to fit on the label of the old 45's, Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated, Quick Dissolving, Fast Acting, Pleasant Tasting Green And Purple Pills. I am still amazed at that the record company went for that title and agreed to print it on the cover. That's a lot of extra ink per record.

Allen Sherman, in the 50's & 60's, used to do a lot of parodies of classic songs. His most famous one was Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. It was about the tribulations of a kid at camp. Very funny and relatable for kids and adults alike.

The Playmates did a great comedy song in the 50's that got faster and faster as the tune went along called Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler). I loved that song as a kid. It was very unique and was in the rotation on radio stations for many weeks.

Sheb Wooley had a great song in the 50's called Flying Purple People Eater. I rememebr all of the visuals that song conjured up as a young boy. I mean, how could you possibly escape from a Purple People Eater that could fly too?

Dave Seville had loads of big hits with his famous chipmunks back then. Simon, Theodore and ALVIN! "OKAAAAAY!". The Chipmunk Song and The Witchdoctor were the first songs to use the technology of raising a person's voice mechanically and making it sound like that. Dave's real name was Ross Bagdasarian and his son eventually took over the job later on.

Spike Jones was such a novelty act of his time and his songs were simply hysterical and unique sounding due to all of the sound effects they used and performed live, I might add. Cocktails For Two and You Always Hurt The One You Love were superb and always made me laugh and still do until this day.

It seems to me that the 50's was a very big era for comedy and novelty songs. I don't really know why they seemed to have disappeared over the years. They're still some but not in quite abundance as before. Maybe because the world was much more innocent back then and people aren't as easily amused these days. I don't know the reason but I think it's a shame that more aren't made today. I think people need more humor in their lives in these crazy times we live in.

So, here we go:

My Top 10 Favorite Comedy Songs 1. Springtime For Hitler

2. Sit On My Face

3. The Lumberjack Song

4. Brave Sir Robin

5. You Always Hurt The One You Love

6. Please, Mr. Custer

7. Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler)

8. High Anxiety

9. Look On The Bright Side Of Life

10. Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah

My honorable mentions are anything by Weird Al Yankovic, He Had It Coming from the Broadway play Chicago, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer by Dr. Elmo, Hooray For Captain Spaulding from the movie Animal Crackers with the Marx Brothers and Lydia The Tatooed Lady also with the Marx Brothers from the movie At The Circus, King Tut by Steve Martin, The Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler, Rappin' Rodney by Rodney Dangerfield, Blue Christmas sung by Porky Pig, They're Coming To Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV (aka Jerry Samuels), songs by Stephen Lynch, I Can't Stop My Leg and Colonoscopy by Robert Klein, Everything by John Valby, and Whose Your Little Whosey? from The Stooge with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

If I didn't mention one of your favorites, let me know and I will add it to my honorable mentions list or update my favorite Top 10 list if I agree with it. I am sure that I have forgotten so many over the years. Until then, thanks again for reading, THE COMEDY TORNADO!

The 10 Best Karaoke Songs To Sing

Karaoke symbolizes a freedom that hardly any other activities in the field of entertainment can offer. It offers people the courage to come up in front of an unknown audience to sing songs even in the face of potential shame.

The selection of music for most karaoke sessions relies on the type of audience you have. The majority of people favor a pop or rock song, whilst others decide on country music. Even a few groups are brave enough to hold opera karaoke sessions. Karaoke CDs are available in all these ranges, and therefore it is very difficult to identify a list of the top 10-karaoke songs. Some people may think it is the best songs, and other might think it is absolute trash.

On the other hand, when you play music for a big audience, it is vital that you cater for everyone's tastes. Otherwise, the crowd will be bored in a matter of minutes. Usually the fast contemporary tracks are a huge hit at any party. Ideally though, there should be a blend of tempos for the best entertainment. You should also have an equal allocation for male and female solos and duos. If your crowd likes to sing, you must have songs that let the superior singers show off their voices. Also, have some songs for those that are not so good, and have to keep up appearances.

The top-10 karaoke songs to sing are based on the accepted view and requests made at karaoke bars all over the world. What will follow below is a list of the 10 best karaoke songs to sing.

1. Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams

2. Hotel California by the Eagles

3. What a wonderful World by Louis Armstrong

4. Imagine by John Lennon

5. Girls just wanna have fun by Cindy Lauper

6. I will survive by Diana King.

7. Jailhouse Rock by Elvis

8. Man, I feel like a woman by Shania Twain.

9. Summer Love by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John

10. A whole new world by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion

There are more songs that you may not have at your karaoke event, but is worth putting in. In the end, it is up to you to read your audience and select the right music for the evening. Some songs might not have made the top 10 list, but they are also very popular at most karaoke events. Take "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond. Some might see it as clichéd, but most crowds just love to sing with the "bah bah bahs". This ensures that it remains a very popular karaoke song. One well-known song for singing along with is "Livin on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. People just love to join in at the "whoaaa-ohhhhh, livin' on a prayer" part. Although well worn in, these songs are still must haves at every karaoke event.

It is also a good idea to throw in some songs that are favorites amongst the girls and favorites amongst the boys. This will get everyone involved in your karaoke evening.

Top Selling iPod - 3 Reasons Why

The popularity of iPods is not surprising as the number of digital music lovers worldwide has grown phenomenally. This is mainly due to the convenience and music on call anywhere and anytime facility made available by iPods. The iPod had its humble beginnings as a high-end music device for those who had a fancy for sophisticated devices and had the means to indulge in it. However, given the free and dynamic forces of competition, the device evolved into something which is very affordable and enjoys a huge demand. As can be expected, many players have jumped onto the wagon and we have iPods of many brands, prices, features and sizes. From among these, some have become brand leaders with one or two being leaders of the pack.

What makes a particular brand or model a top or best seller? Among the many variables, storage (number of songs), size/weight, colors/materials, price and what comes together with the device in terms of accessories, appear to be key factors.

Storage and Number of Songs. The simple and easy consideration would be to make available to everyone a device with the highest capacity. However, this would not be practical as most iPod users would not need a large storage capacity. They simply would not have the time to listen to all the songs or music stored. A conservative estimate is that as an average, users only need to have something like 100 CDs worth of music. Therefore, it is generally believed that a typical user would only need a device with an equivalent plus or minus capacity. There are certainly exceptions due to people with special needs and there are models that cater to larger storage capacities. They come in full-sizes and higher price tags.
Size and Appearance. The best selling iPods are devices that can be held comfortably in the palm of the hand. In fact, the smallest ones are as or even smaller than a single compact disc. In terms of color, black, silver and white-on-chrome give a distinctive and luxurious look. There are models which are available in as many as five different colors. An additional requirement is that the device should be durable as, like the hand phone, the iPod would be subject to heavy daily usage. Though most models are scratch resistant, a simple plastic cover would be an additional protection.
Price Tag and Accessories. Price, no doubt, is an important factor. However, one needs to be wise. A small difference in price can make a big difference in terms of quality, capacity, size and features. The cheapest, in this case, may not be a wise purchase. It comes down to getting value for money. An equally important end-factor is what comes together with the iPod. There are the "nice to have" and the"must have" accessories. Purchasers need to ensure that the basic accessories are inclusive. At times, it would be more prudent to take up offers that come as a package as accessories may be a bit pricey when bought separately.

In purchasing an iPod whether as an upgrade or new purchase, the above factors would be overall considerations. However, certain technical details and specifications would also need to be taken into account according to individual needs. In conclusion, it is best to be cautious of huge discounts as these could be due to models that have caveats on them or have issues.

Ukulele Songs - Five Essential Uke Tunes

There are certain songs that will be forever associated with the ukulele. They're the songs that the general public immediately link with the ukulele. The ones they request whenever someone takes out a ukulele. The ones every ukulele player is almost contractually obliged to learn.

Many of these songs have become associated with the ukulele because of a single, great interpretation using the ukulele.

Tonight You Belong To Me

Tonight You Belong to Me was written in 1926 by Billy Rose and Lee David. It became famous after it was used in the movie The Jerk. It features in a scene on the beach with Steve Martin serenading Bernadette Peters with a ukulele. Although Steve Martin is a ukulele player, he mimed to the playing of Lyle Ritz.

Aloha 'Oe

Aloha Oe is one of the oldest ukulele songs. It was written by the Hawaiian Queen Lili'uokalani at the end of the 19th Century. The song was originally a love song but has become a farewell song because of its vocal refrain (aloha 'oe means 'farewell to you'). The song has recently become popular with children after being used in the cartoon Lilo and Stitch.

Ukulele Lady

In the 1920s, there was a huge fad for all things Hawaiian. Songwriters were quick to pick up on this trend and started writing songs in a Hawaiian style with references to various items of Hawaiiana. Obviously, this meant plenty of ukulele references in songs like Ukulele Moon, Ukulele Island and, most famously, Ukulele Lady.

Tip Toe Through the Tulips

Tiny Tim is probably the most famous ukulele player of all time and Tip Toe Through the Tulips his biggest hit. With his unconventional appearance and strange, warbling voice, he wasn't the greatest ambassador for the ukulele. However, he did rescue a number of great songs from the 1920s from obscurity.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

There were hardly any ukulele versions of Somewhere Over the Rainbow before Israel Kamakawiwo'ole recorded his version of the song in 1997. His version had such charm and beauty that it became a huge success and is regularly featured in films and TV shows set in Hawaii such as 50 First Dates. More recently, the song was covered by Jason Castro on American Idol to thumbs up from the judges and the audience alike.

What will you choose as your song for your First Dance? It is one of the most frequently asked questions you will be asked as a newly engaged couple. Most first dances are songs which mean something to the bride and groom. Maybe a song you first danced to or one, which reminds you of a special event. (Ours was 10 million bicycles in Beijing!). Other couples may choose songs to fit around the theme of the wedding, or one that is just plain romantic. If you don't already have a meaningful song to you both, choosing a song for the first dance can be difficult for some couples.

Here is what's hot in the UK. A survey revealed these songs as the ten most popular with Aerosmith, surprisingly coming out at the No. 1 spot.

3. Truly Madly Deeply - Savage
4. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
5. Amazed - Lonestar
6. Angels - Robbie Williams
7. When You Say Nothing At All - Ronan Keating
8. Everything I Do (I Do It For You) - Bryan Adams
9. I Will Always Love You - Whitney

Madness - It Must Be Love
Van Morrison - Have I Told You Lately
Sade - Your Love Is King
Beatles - Something
Frank Sinatra - As Time Goes By

More and more couples these days are having their first dance choreographed. Music Composing Software - How to Compose Beautiful Music

With music composing software you can compose beautiful music that lights up the spirit even if you don't have a lot of knowledge about music therapy. Technology has made it really easy to express your creative potential and share it with the world.

Too many people take what is possible today for granted. If you reflect on it - just a couple of hundred years ago, the most people did not even have the time, let alone the means, to compose their own music - they did not know how to do it and they did not have the instruments to play music. And most of them did not even have the time to make music because they had to work all day long.

Nowadays, a simple computer program can help you to create the most amazing array of music. You can compose music on your computer and your sound card can emulate the sounds of all kinds of instruments, whether it is a piano, a guitar, a trumpet, a saxophone, a violin or whatever instrument you wish.

You can easily make changes and put several different tracks on top of each other to make the music sound fuller and richer. Music composing software allows you to easily take the melodies and musical ideas that are on the inside of your head and transport them in the outside world so that other people can listen to it too.

The challenge nowadays is to find the right kind of program, because there are so many. The best way to go about choosing a program is by setting your priorities straight. What matters the most for you?

Yes, you can get a professional music composing program for several thousand dollars that has all kinds of functions, but you will basically need the knowledge of an experienced sound engineer to actually use that program.

Instead, for most beginners it is much more advisable to start out with a program that is made for beginners. In the past that meant you had to accept "cheap keyboard sounds", but nowadays even entry-level programs make it possible to create awesome, professional sounding music that you can easily convert into MP3 files that you can use in your own videos, turn into a CD, load on your iPod or mobile phone and share with other people on the internet if that is what you want to do.

Learning Lead Guitar - Top 3 Tips for Soloing Success

Many of us start playing guitar for various reasons. Some want to sing along and impress girls and others want to be rock stars and party all the time. No matter what the reason, we all discover that learning lead guitar is what separates the wanna be guitar players from those who actually can play. Learning lead guitar takes a lot of dedication and practice. Below is an overview of the three most important steps to learning lead guitar.

First step to Learning Lead Guitar:

Practice as many scales and arpeggios as you can. These are the building blocks for all solo guitar work. Strive to learn them in as many different ways as you can. It is also important to play scales and arpeggios in as many different keys as you can.

Second step to Learning Lead Guitar:

Once you have mastered some scales and arpeggios try jamming along with a favorite song. Another really good practice method is to record your self playing rhythm guitar and then try to solo over it. When improvising it is important not concentrate on the notes and how they sound. I know it is tempting to play as fast as you can, but a wiser guitarist than me once said accuracy before speed. And you know what he was right. The sooner you can recognize how a scale will sound over a certain chord the easier it will be to rip through it and find a good ending point to make it sound fluid.

Third step to Learning Lead Guitar:

It is especially important in the beginning to practice exercises that will build finger dexterity and help synchronize the fret hand with the pick hand. They are not always the most fun to practice, but the pay offs in speed and agility are well worth the boredom. In fact as you mature as a player you will probably find that these exercises are very useful in warming up before performances.

Learning lead guitar is a demanding yet highly rewarding experience. The feeling you get from wailing out a hot guitar lick is one of the most exhilarating feelings in the world. I urge you to apply the techniques mentioned above for learning lead guitar. Memorize as many scales and arpeggios as you can. Improvise them to your own rhythms or jam with a CD or even better find other people to jam with.

Top 20 Temptations Hits

America's all-time favorite soul group got their start in 1960. In 1961, they recorded for the Miracle label under the name of The Elgins and The Primes.

The original lineup featured Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin, Otis Williams (no relation to member Paul) and Eldridge Bryant.

In 1961, Berry Gordy signed the group to Motown, but since there was already an active group known as The Elgins, they changed their name to The Temptations.

When David Ruffin, cousin of Billy Stewart, replaced Bryant in 1964, that's when the hits started coming. Although Ruffin sang lead on many of their hits, the other members shared leads on some of their other songs.

Ruffin, who was causing friction among the other group members and Motown chief, Berry Gordy, was fired from the group in 1968. Kendricks left the group in 1970 after internal problems resulted in arguments over leadership of the group. Both singers returned for the 1982 "Reunion" album.

On the charts, The Temptations scored 37 times on the Billboard Top 40 weekly charts between 1964 and 1975. Four times they went to number one and many of their songs have been covered by other artists.

Kendricks and Ruffin both had successful solo careers with Ruffin having three Top 20 Billboard hits and Kendricks having four, with "Keep On Truckin'" going to number one.

Here are The Temptations 20 biggest hits, according to the Billboard weekly Top 40 charts.

1. I Can't Get Next To You - 1969

2. Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) - 1971 - Eddie Kendricks last single as lead singer with the group.

3. Papa Was A Rolling Stone - 1972 - The Temptations last number one song and a nearly 12 minute album version was reduced to a seven minute single version.

4. My Girl - 1965 - Their first number one single and written and produced by Smokey Robinson.

5. I'm Gonna Make You Love Me - 1969 - The Temptations teamed up with the Supremes on this single which was a Top 30 hit for Madeline Bell in 1968.

6. Ball Of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today) - 1970

7. Beauty Is Only Skin Deep - 1966

8. I Wish It Would Rain - 1968 - Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded this in 1967, but didn't do as well as the Temptations, who took it to #4.

9. Cloud Nine - 1969

10. Runaway Child, Running Wild - 1969

11. You're My Everything - 1967

12. Masterpiece - 1973

13. Psychedelic Shack - 1970 - This song introduced the world to "psychedelic soul." It was also a featured song, with the group singing it, in an opening sequence of the television comedy "Moonlighting."

14. (I Know) I'm Losing You - 1966 - Rare Earth went Top 10 with this song in 1970 and Rod Stewart and Faces also covered it in 1971.

15. All I Need - 1967

16. The Way You Do The Things You Do - 1964 - Their first hit single and covered by Rita Coolidge in 1978, Hall and Oates along with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks in a medley in 1985 and UB40, going Top 10 with it in 1990.

17. Ain't Too Proud To Beg - 1966 - The Rolling Stones took this song into the Top 20 in 1974.

18. I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You) - 1968

19. My Baby - 1966 - Another song written and produced by Smokey Robinson.

20. (Loneliness Made Me Realize) It's You That I Need - 1967

The Temptations were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. A four hour television miniseries, "The Temptations", based on an autobiography by band member Otis Williams, was broadcast in 1998.

Although only one original member is still with the group, The Temptations continue to tour and bring their great sound to many fans.

Top 20 Chicago Hits

Originally called The Big Thing, in 1967, Chicago was also known as Chicago Transit Authority, before settling on the name Chicago in 1969. Consisting of original members Robert Lamm, James Pankow, Lee Loughnane, Terry Kath, Walt Parazaider, Peter Cetera and Danny Seraphine, this jazz-oriented rock group moved to Los Angeles in the late 1960's.

Chicago first hit Billboard's weekly Top 40 charts in 1970 and continued to do so 35 times, between 1970 and 1991. Best known for their albums, Chicago had five consecutive number one albums and 25 of their 32 albums have been certified platinum. They had twenty top 10 singles and three of them went to number one.

Bass player and vocalist, Peter Cetera, has had a successful solo career since 1986, topping the charts twice and he has teamed up with Amy Grant and Cher on two top 10 singles.

The band suffered a terrible blow in 1978 when guitarist Terry Kath died at the age of 31, while playing Russian roulette.

According to their official website, Chicago has received Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award, multiple American Music Awards and they even have their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Below is a list of Chicago's twenty biggest hits, according to the Billboard charts:

1. Hard To Say I'm Sorry - 1982 - This song was featured in the movie "Summer Lovers."

2. If You Leave Me Now - 1976 - Their first number one single.

3. Look Away - 1988

Meet the Sexy and Talented Ladies in Country Music Today

The likes of Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and Dolly Parton evoke images of traditionally-clad country singers decked in western-style frocks and ensembles. These are all great artists in their own and rights and have held supremacy in more ways than one. However, at present, new artists have continued to reshape and slowly change our perceptions regarding women in country music. Today, country love songs are not just about heartaches and broken relationships anymore.

In the 1990's, artists such as Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Lee Ann Womack first opened the doors with their brand of country music doused with sex appeal and tremendous commercial and crossover potential. Today, artists such as Miranda Lambert, Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland continue in this tradition, giving audiences a different and, dare we say, bolder image of modern day country singers. Let's take a look at their career highlights.

Miranda Lambert

Twenty-six year old Miranda Leigh Lambert first broke into the scene through her participation in the 2003 season of Nashville Star, a reality TV program aired over at NBC. Her third place finish did not prevent her from eventually achieving superstardom. She later signed with Epic Records, through which she released her debut album, "Kerosene." All four singles from the album- "Bring Me Down," "Kerosene," "Me and Charlie Talking," and "New Strings"-were certified Top 40 hits. In 2007, she transferred to Columbia Records Nashville and recorded her sophomore album, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," which produced her first Top 10 hit ("Gunpowder & Lead"). All of her three albums debuted at the No. 1 Spot on the Billboard Country Music Album Charts. She has been nominated for Grammys, CMAs and ACM awards in which she won a Top New Female Vocalist award in 2007.

Hillary Scott

Scott is, of course, one-third of the fast rising group Lady Antebellum (known for their harmony-driven country love songs), which recently grabbed the Award for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group for "I Run To You" at the recent Grammy Awards, successfully establishing their hold of the category over veterans such as Rascal Flatts and Brooks & Dunn. After graduating from high school, Scott, a country singer by heart, worked with singer-songwriter Victoria Shaw, through which she met her future band mates. Scott, a native of Nashville, TN, is not just a pretty face with a big voice, she is also an award-winning songwriter recognized for her contributions to "Love Don't Live Here" and "Lookin' for a Good Time," two of Lady Antebellum's hit songs.

Jennifer Nettles

The sexy, on-stage presence of Nettles helped propel Sugarland as one of the fast-rising musical acts of today. Together with Kristian Bush, Nettles successfully translated their electrifying stage performance into hit singles and multi-platinum record sales. Prior to joining Sugarland, Nettles had already been an established singer working the Atlanta, Georgia music circuit through her previous bands, Soul Miner's Daughter and the Jennifer Nettles Band. Like Scott, Nettles is also an established singer and songwriter, co-writing songs with Cory Jones for two Soul Miner's Daughter albums, "The Sacred and Profane" (1996) and "Hallelujah" (1998).

iTunes - Sharing Music

In the world of digitized music, the term "sharing" is slightly ambiguous. It can refer to un-contentious software features such as the "sharing" functions of iTunes, which allow you to listen to music stored on other computers on your home or office network. It can also refer to highly controversial practices, such as exchanging vast swathes of music with friends - the kind of thing that prompts the music industry to claim that there's no distinction between sharing copyrighted music and stealing it.

iTunes Sharing Over A Network

A network is two or more computers connected together, either with cables or a wireless technology such as Wi-Fi (AirPort in Mac-speak). If you have more than one computer in the house, networking them together allows you to share files, printers and Internet connection. If each computer is equipped with iTunes, a network also lets you "stream" music from one to another, with each computer having access to the music stored on the others - even between Macs and PCs. These days, setting up a home network can take seconds rather than days.

Start Sharing

First of all you'll need to set the sharing options for each computer on the network. Open iTunes Preferences and, under the Sharing tab, you'll see two main check boxes: "Look for shared music" (which instructs iTunes to find shared music on other computers on the network) and "Share my music" - which breaks down further into sharing your entire Library or just selected specified playlists. As for the "Shared name" box, whatever you enter here will pop up in the Source List of other users on the network.

Next, decide if you want to set a password for others accessing your songs: this option is not compulsory, but it could be useful if, say, you're embarrassed about your easy listening playlist. When you are done, click OK and start sharing.

Listening to shared music

Once you've set up two computers to share, their icons should appear in each other's Source List. Click the icon, entering the sharer's password if required, and you can browse these selections either directly from the Song List or by clicking the small triangle to the left of the shared music icon to reveal any playlists on the shared computer. Double-click a song and then sit back and listen as the streaming starts.

Copying music from computer-to-computer

The other way to share music is to literally move the relevant files from your iPod or computer to someone else's computer. It probably goes without saying that ripping a massive library of tracks from copyrighted CDs and then donating it to all your friends is against the law. But there are legitimate reasons for this kind of copying: you might have two computers in the same house, say, or be upgrading to a new machine. You might also be copying music you've downloaded from iTunes Music Store, in which case you're allowed to authorize a certain number of other computers to play each track.

Red Hot Chili Peppers "Californication" Rock Music CD Review

Californication is the latest Rock CD realeased by the extremely talented group Red Hot Chili Peppers and they have once again have delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I'm confident Red Hot Chili Peppers fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.

Unfortunately, it's not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can't force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Californication. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you've got one of Red Hot Chili Peppers's most impressive releases ever.

Listen to and I think you'll agree that the song choices are excellent, the production is outstanding and Red Hot Chili Peppers are in top form.

While this entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are Around The World [track 1], This Velvet Glove [track 11], and Right On Time [track 14].

The History Of Country Music

With the rise of popular stars such as Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, many people think that country music is a new genre. The truth is that country has a long standing tradition in American music, going all the way back to the 1930's. The history of this music is important to understand if someone is curious about how it has become such an immensely popular genre today.

When country music first hit the popular music scene in the 1930's, it was in a form known as honky tonk music. The genre was typically identified by the use of steel guitars and drums that were so popular among listeners. Although Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams were the biggest stars of the day, it was Al Dexter who coined the phrase "honky tonk" and used it in one of his songs.

As country music began to evolve in the 1940's, it took on a new style that was best described as western music. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers made this style popular with songs that talked about the ups and downs of life as a cowboy. Most of the songs included a lonely solo from some kind of wind instrument, such as a flute.

These days, country music has taken a far more modern twist and is, in many ways, indistinguishable from other popular music heard on the radio. Stars such as Kenny Chesney and Gretchen Wilson have held onto the musical roots of country, but have started singing songs with a contemporary, party edge. The result has been country music quickly becoming one of the most popular genres in America today.

If someone loves country music of today, they should become familiar with the historic roots of country music. Dating back to the 1930's, artists were creating music that would influence the artists everyone enjoys so much today. Although the sound has evolved greatly, contemporary artists owe quite a lot to the country stars that came before them.

Top 5 Pieces For a Beginner Jazz Pianist

Learning how to play jazz piano for the first time is exciting yet very intimidating if one starts with the wrong songs. Selecting pieces that are melodically pleasing, rhythmically simple, harmonically easy (as in the chord changes) and all structured within a straightforward form is very important if a beginner jazz pianist is to gain any significant performance result.

Hence, the following pieces all comprise the elements just mentioned above and, in my opinion, are very suitable for any novice jazz player. Interestingly, these pieces will eventually have to be among the standard tunes in any true jazzer's repertoire.

The five songs are: (listed in alphabetical order)

1. Autumn Leaves: Beautiful melody in simple rhythms; II-V-I chord changes in the key of G major and its relative E minor; 32-bar ABAC form. This is a "must know" jazz standard, often played in ballad and/or medium swing style. It is also common to find this song represented in G minor.

2. Blue Bossa: Descending melody line with lightly syncopated latin rhythms; II-IV-I in C minor and Db major; 16-bar AB form. This piece is great in two ways: it is a great introduction to bossa nova style and also chord changes in minor key.

3. Fly Me to the Moon: Another beautiful descending melodic line with a rhythm that can be interpreted in swing or latin; mainly diatonic and related chords from C major; another 32-bar ABAC form. An old Sinatra favorite and, of course, repopularized by Michael Buble, this song not only has a catchy melody, but the chord progression also moves beautifully in the cycle of fifths.

4. So What: Simple modal melody in the bass in flowing 8th rhythms; D Dorian modal chords; classic 32-bar AABA, starting with 16 bars of D Dorian, moving up a half step to 8 bars of Eb Dorian and back to the last 8 bars of D Dorian again. Miles Davis' popular piece is an excellent thesis in modal studies. The beginner will learn the concept of "less is more."

5. Summertime: A classic Gershwin blues melody in simple rhythms; mainly diatonic and related chords of D minor; 16-bar AB form. Another great minor piece and also a "must know," with a bluesy tinge. There is an opportunity to learn about line clichés and applying them to chords Imi and IVmi.

For each song, learn the melody and play through its chord progression. Pay attention to the form and structure of the song. If possible, commit all these to memory. It will be well worth the effort and time and you will appreciate knowing the song inside out, especially once you start the improvisational aspect of jazz piano-playing!

Hindi Folk Songs

Indian traditions and ceremonies are loaded with fun as rituals and songs are chief representations. There is a song and dance session to express happiness, welcoming someone in the family or a simple family get together. Marriages are full of celebration and events begin with the mehendi or application of henna on the hands. Elaborate designs include traditional Indian mehendi and also Arabic designs. The fragrance of henna and the beats of a dholak (drum) is emphasized when popular folk songs are sung. The lyrics are different in each state though there is a similarity in the theme. The folk songs can be enacted in a dance method or simply sung with a loud chorus and clapping of hands.

Folks songs for marriages weave around the idea of a girl coming of marriageable age and enumerating her mischief nature at plucking unripe mangoes and savoring the delight of tamarind in her childhood. The transition of this girl into a woman is also mentioned with catchy rhymes during the ladies sangeet. The conclusion is done in chiding her about her fiancée and that he would whisk her away in front of the entire household. Folk songs also express the bold forms of bringing false negative qualities and jibes of the girls in-laws and then having a huge laugh about it. One needs to qualify with a good sense of humour for such participation as these songs are harmless renditions. The final bidaii or the farewell to the bride song is soul stirring and tears natural well up in the eyes.

Folk songs for Holi are sure fun where colours are splashed on each other. People use brickbats and false fights to irritate one another. But good humour prevails. A women during her seventh month of pregnancy is adored and revered in India with lot of gifts, adornment and a great delicacy is spread as per her choice. These godh baraai songs are different in each language and state but go on to honouring the women and seeking the blessing of God.

The welcoming of a child in the house is done with the traditional Aarti and again folk songs are sung to bring out the virtues of Lord Krishna and mother Yashoda. The naamkaran or the naming ceremony is another time when people bless the child with popular folk songs of mythological value. Navraatri is another time when garba or the dandia raas necessitates the need to dress in traditional attires and perform the dances. The songs are typical in each year and innovations are seen in the rhythm of dance and the collection of songs. Maintaining the basic folk song and infusing the same with musical treatments is much seen in fusion music. Punjabi and songs from Uttar Pradesh are rich in the lyrics. There is melody in the folk songs from the south.
