Top 20 Elton John Hits

Reginald Kenneth Dwight was born in Pinner, Middlesex, England in 1947. In 1966, Elton formed his first band called Bluesology. Bluesology started out backing visiting U.S. soul artists, like the Isley Brothers, Billy Stewart and Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles.

Also, in 1966, Bluesology became the supporting band for Long John Baldry. In fact, it was from this band that Reginald got his stage name by taking the first names of Bluesology band members Elton Dean and John Baldry.

Elton teamed up with lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1967 in a partnership that continues today. They formed Rocket Records in 1973.

On the big screen, you'll see Elton playing the Pinball Wizard in Pete Townsend's film version of "Tommy."

Little known fact: Elton plays piano on the Hollies 1970 hit, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother."

On the charts, Elton John has had at least one Billboard top 40 song every year between 1970 and 1990, including seven number one hits. He also has had seven consecutive number one albums.

Here are Elton John's twenty biggest single hits, according to Billboard magazine:

1. That's What Friends Are For - 1986 - Elton's last #1 single, but his biggest, was a collaboration with Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder. Proceeds from this song went into AIDS research.

2. Don't Go Breaking My Heart - 1976 - a duet with Kiki Dee.

3. Crocodile Rock - 1973 - Elton's first #1 single.

4. Island Girl - 1975

5. Philadelphia Freedom - 1975 - listed as The Elton John Band.

6. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - 1975 - a credit on the label goes to "the Reggae guitars of Dr. Winston O'Boogie" who was actually John Lennon doing backup vocals.

8. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - 1973

15. The Bitch Is Back - 1974

16. Sad Songs (Say So Much) - 1984

17. Rocket Man - 1972 - a song often compared to David Bowie's "Space Oddity."

18. Candle In The Wind - 1987 - originally recorded in 1973 for the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album, this haunting ballad was re-recorded with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. It has sold over 37 million copies.

19. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word - 1976 - from the "Blue Moves" album.

20. Nikita - 1986 - featuring backing vocals from George Michael of Wham! fame.

Top 4 Clothing Styles

There are so many different types of brands out there these days and this is very true when it comes to clothing brands. This is probably down to the number of new clothing styles that have evolved in recent years. The emergence of extreme sports and new music genres has contributed to this as art has collided head on with fashion.

Here are my top four clothing brand styles.

Surf Wear

Surf wear is a phrase that was coined to categorise the clothing of surfers. This initially began with surfers from the Southern California scene who began creating their own clothing brands. This was a result of the rise in popularity of surfing and its recognition as a sport which meant surfers could get sponsorship deals with surfboard and wet suit manufacturers. Examples of famous surf wear brands include Volcom, Quiksilver and Billabong.

Skate Wear

Skate wear was used to describe clothing brands that came out of the skate scene. Skate wear has close links with surf wear as both styles emerged out of the same scene as skateboarders and surfers tend to be one and the same. This is no surprise as originally skateboards were designed by surfers to practise surfing on land. The two clothing styles are fairly similar but each individually caters for the needs of skateboarders or surfers. Recognised skate wear brands include Vans shoes, Etnies and Element.

Urban Wear

Urban Wear came about thanks to the influence of the hip hop and rap lifestyle. During the late 70's and early 80's hip hop and rap music started to emerge with artists like Run DMC and the Beastie Boys breaking into the mainstream. These artists were known for wearing baggy clothes, gold chains and Adidas shoes with the laces out. These styles developed over time and with the rise in popularity of hip hop many artists started their own clothing labels. Those that had been inspired by these music styles also started creating clothing brands influenced by their favourite artists. This resulted in many urban wear brands like Roca Wear, Phat Farm and Sean John.

Street Wear

Street Wear is a clothing style that draws influence from all the previous clothing styles. Street wear is probably best described as clothing that is inspired by urban living in metropolitan towns and cities. Hence street wear draws influence from all aspects of life in that environment including graffiti, street art, skateboarding, bmx, surfing as well as music from rock to hip hop. Street wear clothing designs often feature bright graphics and graffiti designs as well as a touch of camouflage here and there. The Addict Clothing Co, Stussy and Obey Giant are prime examples of innovative streetwear brands.

Easy Classical Guitar Songs

Classical guitar is a fascinating instrument to learn. The process of graduating from struggling to get your right hand fingers working to playing bass, melody and accompaniment together will keep you enjoying your guitar practice for a long time. Not that it takes that long before you are playing easy classical songs.

One of the things that the beginner classical guitar player notices is the noise his fingers make when his hand moves up and down the neck of the guitar. This has sometimes put potential students off learning to play. The sound of the fingers rubbing the steel-wound bass strings is sometimes louder than the music he is playing. You will find from experimenting that some strings have this problem more than others, but you will also develop the knack of lifting the tips of your fingers slightly when changing position without losing any accuracy in your playing.

In centuries past, what we call classical now was the only guitar style that existed. Whether it was accompanying songs or playing instrumentals, the music that was the product of strumming and plucking the guitar strings inspired many composers to write easy songs and pieces that could be played on the nylon string guitar.

You don't need to confine yourself to classical songs and pieces in your repertoire, there are lots of arrangements of modern tunes for classical guitar. Apart from the classical guitar versions of songs by The Beatles which have been around for many years, classical guitarists have posted on YouTube videos of their arrangements of songs like Stairway To Heaven. The videos often provide a link to the tab for the tune so you don't have to learn it by ear.

One of the most popular easy classical guitar songs is Blackbird by The Beatles. Everybody loves to play it and audiences love to listen to it. But there are easy songs and tunes from all ages that you can play after a few months of learning guitar. You can even find anthologies of easy classical guitar pieces such as 50 Easy Classical Guitar Solos by Jerry Willard. This book contains pieces from all periods of musical history written in standard musical notation and in tab form.

There are also collections of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach like Sarabande No. 1 and Musette in D Major that are surprisingly easy for beginners to play. Also there are well known anonymous pieces like Packington's Pound, Nonesuch, Kemp's Jig.

The best thing about learning easy classical guitar songs is that many are beginner-friendly pieces that will yield great satisfaction without being difficult to play.

Top Five Alicia Keys Songs of All-Time

So first off, by all-time I mean up to this point. I am sure Alicia Keys is not done writing for her lifetime, but here are the five best put out by the New York City native.

1. No One - This song was the first single off of "As I Am," and showed off Alicia's range like few other songs. The passion, which you can see on her music video, rocketed this hit to #1 and became an instant hit.
2. Fallin' - Before we actually knew a lot about the artist Alicia Keys, she gave us this song. Another instant hit, it came off of her debut album "Songs in A Minor."
3. If I Ain't Got You - This ballad is one of the best piano songs performed in recent history. Countless women have tried to do covers of this song, but no one quite has topped her. This song comes off the album "Diary of Alicia Keys."
4. My Boo - So this song was not technically hers, as it appeared on Usher's "Confessions." She did however sing half of the song so she should be have this as part of her resume. The chemistry the two had in the song made this one a favorite among couples
5. Superwoman - The final song on this list is another relatively new one. "Superwoman" documents all the struggles women go through in all of the world. It has been used for a ton of commercials, television shows and award shows. This is on the same album as the #1 song on this list, "As I Am."

This was a tough list to make. Alicia Keys is a valuable artist, but she should be recognized for her best work. Narrowing it down to five was tough, and I apologize ahead of time for showing inadvertent favoritism.

Background Music For Videos - Make Your Own Music For Your Videos

I had a lot of trouble finding good background music for the videos I was making until I found a program that you can use to make your own music and now I don't have to worry about breaking copyright laws either.

When I first started making my own videos I didn't really know anything about copyright infringement or about any of the copyright laws until I submitted a video on YouTube.com and received one of those copyright infringement warning messages. After reading on some of the websites about these laws I started to think about other ways I can get music for my videos, I never really though about making my own.

I assumed you would need to either be musically minded or a be a musician to use music making software but when I done some research on Dubturbo which is a music beat maker program I was actually pretty shocked at how easy it looked to make your own music.

So I started making my own music for videos I was making and turns out everyone I show really liked the videos and the music. Now I make background music for videos and games for a small fee which makes me think I could start making a living from making music beats for people as a business of some kind. But for now it is just for fun and some spare cash here and there.

If you have ever put a video on YouTube.com or any video sharing website that has someone elses music in it did you know you could be breaking the law? If you don't want to receive a nasty email like I did then I recommend you check out music making software or try and use your own music in some way.

Top Five Must-See Places When You Travel to Nashville, Tennessee

The city of Nashville, Tennessee has much to offer those who choose to embark over to this cornbread state. The rich history of rock and roll's sordid past is engraved nearly everywhere that you can look - or visit - when in Nashville. Unbeknownst to many people, some of music's biggest stars have recorded their best-known and most celebrated records in this city. Of course, it goes without saying, that the city also houses the bread and butter of country music's elitists as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. There is much to this place that does not meet the eye, or that can be easily overlooked when you are here. To better help you to plan an exciting trip to husker land, here are the top five must-see places that you shouldn't overlook if you find yourself passing through this culturally-rich, destination city.

The Parthenon: When you travel to Nashville, this is absolutely a site that you have to visit. The Parthenon features one of the largest sets of bronze doors that can be found anywhere; each set of doors - one on the front and one on the back - weighs in at seven and a half tons. The Athena Parthenos holds another record as being one of the largest indoor sculptures in the world. It also holds one other record: the only complete and life-size replica of the Parthenon in the entire world. Bring your camera with you visit this site, as it is truly breathtaking.

Gaylord Opryland: One of the largest resorts in the world should definitely be on your list of places to see. The Gaylord Opryland is literally awe-inspiring. Aside from offering hundreds upon hundreds of different and lavish hotel rooms, this place doubles as the largest convention center in the state. An indoor mall offers plenty of shopping and even an auto dealership. The resort is split into three areas, the Cascades, and the Delta and the Conservatory, each which cover several acres per area. Don't miss the large lake in the cascades, where you can even go on boat rides. Water jets spout streams hundreds of feet into the air in the Cascades, and the Conservatory offers an indoor botanical garden.

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum: Don't miss this place if you end up in Cornville. The most notable site is Elvis' solid gold Cadillac, but you can also read original, hand written lyrics penned by music's greatest stars, look at thousands of different stage outfits, and even see some of the most famous rock and roll instruments ever to be played on by some of the most famous rockers in the world. Make sure you set aside several hours so you can see everything that this place has to offer.

Nash Trash Tours: Perhaps the best way to really see this city is by drinking alcohol legally in this decorative bus as you are taken around and shown all the sites and explained their rich history. It's like seeing the whole city by just taking one bus ride. And yes, it's legal to drink on the bus and they serve alcohol. If you travel to Nashville, don't miss this tour, it's the one absolute thing that you must do to really see everything.

Bicentennial Mall State Park: This park was originally constructed to celebrate the state's two hundred years of union membership. This park is truly exceptional and features an amphitheater, botanical garden and visitor center. There are also thirty one fountains scattered throughout the park, one for every major river in the state. Make sure that you check out the large granite timeline of the state's history and don't miss the two hundred foot granite map of the state either. The best part: admission is free.

The Most Memorable 60s Songs

There's little doubt that 60s Songs played a major role in shaping the music we have today. It is rare to find an artist or band that does not cite an artist or band from the 1960s as one of their influences. Musicians of all ages and backgrounds cannot stop raving about this period of music. Even I can't stop raving about it even though I was born at the end of the 1980s.

The article hopes to explore some of the most memorable 60s Songs that defined this period. The criterion is not the commercial success of the song but the cultural and social impact of the song on 1960s society (and even contemporary society). So without further ado, here we go.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand - The Beatles

This was the song that catapulted the Beatles into worldwide fame. Their performance on the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964 singlehandedly started the British Invasion in America and changed the course of music forever. Before this major event, American music was stuttering and stalling. British music brought a new tune and rhythm that defied musical conventions of the time and it struck a huge chord with the American audience. Music would never be the same ever again.

I Can't Get No Satisfaction - Rolling Stones

As one of the beneficiaries of the British Invasion, the Rolling Stones released I Can't Get No Satisfaction in 1965, a very controversial song for the censors, but a song that expressed perfectly the concerns and issues of 60s youth. It was the song that launched the group to fame the world over and as a result, they have continued to be popular for almost 45 years. A killer guitar hook with killer lyrics and a killer singer guaranteed this song's status.

Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys

Between 1965 and 1967, the Beach Boys and the Beatles engaged in a battle for both commercial and innovative supremacy. Experimentation was at its peak during this period and has never again reached such levels. As the story goes, the Beatles album Revolver influenced the Beach Boys album Pet Sounds which in turn influenced Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. All 3 albums are now in the Top 10 most influential albums of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine. One of the songs that resulted from this period was Good Vibrations, which was the brainchild of Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson. Its production became a obsession for Wilson and which led it to becoming the most expensive song produced at the time. At the same time, it contributed to Wilson's mental deterioration. Arguably, the Beach Boys never reached such peaks. Nevertheless, this song will forever remain the legacy of Brian Wilson from a period where anything was possible.

While these songs may have been commercially very successful, the decision to put them in this article was solely due to the cultural and social impact that these songs made. It is for this reason that these 60s Songs are so memorable today.

Top 5 Myths About The Music Business

If you are involved in the entertainment business then you've probably heard a few tall tales. The following is a list of some of the top myths about the music business.

1. People in the music business will help you out of the kindness of their hearts.

Facts:

The music business is called the music business for a reason. It is a business that just so happens to sell music. Businesses are in business to make money. They are not in business to make ART, however they will sell it. You may find a handful of good Samaritans willing to help for free but generally speaking if helping does not benefit the other party, they won't help.

"People (not counting loved ones) will help you if they think your art will make them money. They will not help you if they think your art will not make them money." -David Naggar, Esq. from  The Music Business Explained In Plain English-

2. Since the economic decline people aren't buying music anymore

Facts:

People are buying music, but they aren't buying it in the same way they used to. Sales of CDs may be down but the sale of single tracks is up! If you are still an unbeliever just check iTunes sales records. Reportedly, Apple has sold 10 billion and counting!

3. Music superstars have and are making tons of money.

This is one of the biggest myths in the entertainment business. When you see a Sean Kingston or Lady Gaga on television you may think that they are living the good life, but really the amount of money he/she brings home is really dependent on the terms of their contractual obligations as well as their money management skills. Simply put, if you spend more than you make you are bound to go broke sooner or later.

Need examples:

MC Hammer

Marvin Gaye

Michael Jackson

Willie Nelson

Toni Braxton

Billy Joel

George Clinton

Isaac Hayes

Jerry Lee Lewis

Ron Isley

Need anymore? The list goes on.

The fact of the matter is that all of these artists have seen the highs and lows of the music business. Micheal Jackson, the "King of Pop", even had his money woes. No "superstar" is exempt. Good money management skills are needed in order to maintain a "superstar" lifestyle.

4. You can become an overnight celebrity in the music business.

This is one of the most common myths about the music business. People believe that you can sign a record deal and then all of sudden you are magically on magazine covers and receiving Grammy awards. All of this talk is nonsense. At the end of the day it takes a decent amount of leg work, dedication, passion, perseverance, and strong networking relationships to achieve "success" in the music business. NO ONE HAS BECOME SUCCESSFUL OVERNIGHT however, some people have achieved their goals faster than others. Artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West, and Eminem spent years building their reputation and brands to become the people they are today. This is why working smarter and not harder is essential in the music business.

5. Talent Trumps Work Ethic

In today's music business, talent still counts but work ethic counts for more. An extraordinarily talented person with average work ethic will generally not do as well as someone with extraordinary work ethic and average talent.

A strong work ethic, more often than not, means that you can be consistent which is of the utmost importance in the music business.

Why?

One word. Marketing. Being able to consistently deliver high quality to the consumer is paramount.  This is where work ethic trumps talent. A person that is able to consistently deliver a satisfactory product to the consumer is, in the words of Charlie Sheen, WINNING! Because of our increasingly shortened attention spans, having someone or something consistently in our faces helps in branding the product, service, or person. Ultimately, this results in people getting paid!

How to Read Drum Sheet Music - Easy to Understand Explanation of How to Read Drum Music

Do you struggle reading drum sheet music, whether you find tabs on the internet or 'real' drum music from a book or magazine? You might see them as a bunch of random lines and strange symbols? If this is the case you are right, they are. Let me burst the music bubble right now, those strange meaningless lines, dots and symbols are the language of music that is the key that unlocks the door to your favorite songs and bands.

There are really two types of drum sheet music.

1. Traditional Drum Music Notation

2. Drum Tabs found on the internet

Drumming Tabs

These tabs have become very popular over the last 10 years and you will find them exclusively online at drum, guitar and bass sites mainly. They have become so popular because the author can produce the tabs for free and are notated without the need to buy expensive software. Anyone viewing the tabs needs no software at the other end and thus creates a great partnership. Tabs represent the division of the beat with small dashes, these dashes also serve as the five line stave. The drum elements are written with circles or the letter o, hi-hats and cymbals are read with a x. Each drum or cymbal is written almost in the same way as traditional notation, I say almost!

The main problem with drum tabs is that it is very hard to write or indeed read the music with any degree of accuracy. The biggest problem is representing rhythmic values. I have had many students bring tabs that they want to learn, as a drum teacher your hands are tied unless you know the song and can work out the rhythms of the drum part elements. There is however a far easier way to read drum sheet music....

Learning To Read Traditional Drum Notation

Tradition tabs are written on sheet music manuscript paper or with notation software. The draw back to software is that they are usually expensive to buy and a steep learning curve is required to master the software. Some software requires the end user to also have the program to see the music. Other programs allow the drum music to be published with PDF programs which makes life easier for the end user. The obvious plus is that the drum tabs are much clearer and far easier to read than Word Document tabs.

If you visit the site below you will find lots of examples of drum music written out using dedicated software. You will also find lessons that teach you how to read drum music. It's actually very easy! Basically each element of the drum set has its own line or space. The notes towards the bottom of the five line stave are for low drums such as the bass drum. Generally notes at the top of the stave are for the cymbals. The notes themselves look like piano music and each symbol represents a different note length, this allows you to understand the exact drum rhythm of the music.

This is what is best about these tabs the rhythms can be precisely notated. If you are a drummer learning to play you need to develop your skills when you read drum rhythms. It is an essential tool for any musician, with a little effort anyone can learn to read notation very easily and it will open up your world to the music you love and want to play.

If you want to learn more about the drums and are interested in learning from a reliable website full of helpful advice why not check out Drum Lessons Beginners, you'll find a host of helpful articles, drum lessons and course reviews.

Music Boxes For Sale

Music boxes for sale are mostly common nowadays. It can be bought in department stores, malls, bazaars, and even your neighbor's garage sale! Some people's reasons for selling, or RFS, may include: depreciation out of functionality, cutting down the number of household items, fund raising and so on. These music boxes bought old are usually defective because of time. So they become decorations instead.

What is a Music Box? Well, besides being a piece of box that actually emits sound, there's more to it. They were originally made to buy and small enough to fit a 19th century man's jacket. Yes, it was a fad then and grew in size to become house decorations. They were considered as entertainment systems before and decorations as well. They could be coin-operated, public use, private use, ceremonial use, and so on.

Most music boxes that are bought for display are antiques - bought by the members of some music box club or just a plain collector. These items have creases and faded colour constructed by time, to make them appear as elegant and sophisticated. Drawbacks are mostly functionality issue, caused by aging that brings rust and whatsoever. However, if you are not a collector, contemporary music boxes are available.

Newer versions of the item are also manufactured. They are mostly manufactured for children and can also be of use as a playroom decoration. The mechanics are the same as that of the original music box, but the only difference is its construction which is mostly plastic, which takes some shine out of it, in terms of value. But this is not much of an issue since its users are mostly children.

Aside from ready made items for sale, there are some music boxes that could suit your needs and specifications. For example, you want a music box for your wedding - then you could go to a custom artist who will make the item according to your specifications. They usually charge higher than the usual because the music box that they do are a hundred percent guaranteed as original plus their laborious effort in order to do it.

So if you really want a music box, either for entertainment or solely for decoration, you could go to the various places mentioned that can give you the music box of your dreams. Either if you want music box for a decoration, collection, entertainment, and the like.

Popular Wedding Songs

What would a wedding be without the singing or playing of some of the more popular wedding songs ever devised? Well, it would still be a wedding but it would be one that was sorely missing a popular element. Now, if you were asked to present a list of these top songs, would you be able to name all of them? If not there is no need to worry, the following is a list of some of the more popular songs that are frequently present when wedding bells chime:

The wedding should always start out with a song that themes the romantic nature of the event. This is where Tchaikovsky's "Waltz From Sleeping Beauty" is such an outstanding choice. The lyricism of this particular number significantly presents a tone that is bright and uplifting. And is that not what proper selections for a wedding song should embody?

Processional songs set the stage to the wedding and one of the best weddings songs to employ is the "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet" as performed by Andy Williams. Actually, since this is an instrumental you could a number of recordings. While most may not be aware the theme derives from 1968's film adaptation of the play, most are familiar with its sound. And this is one of the most romantic themes ever crafted which makes it perfect for a wedding selection.

Rod Stewart's "Have I Told You Lately (That I Love You)" remains a perennial choice for the First Dance selection when the bride and groom take to the floor. Mostly everyone has heard of this song which is why it is among the most popular wedding songs commonly selected. It is also probably the most romantic song ever recorded which is certainly another plus associated with the song.

What would a Father/Daughter dance be without the playing of The Temptations "My Girl?" It would be a cliche to state that this song is an 'oldie but a goodie' but the cliché is most definitely true. "My Girl" has been a perennial father/daughter song because it is a tremendous recording that will bring sentimental tears to people's eyes and smiles to their faces.

Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life" is sometimes considered sappy and, to a certain extent, this is true. However, it also makes for a perfect Mother/Son dance tune. This is a classic love song that has been playing on easy listening stations for decades. It is also a common choice among those looking for an excellent Mother and Son dance number.

Sister Sledge's version of "We Are Family" is a great selection for the Bridal Party dance because it adds a great sense of fun to the proceedings. It is also a nice departure from the more serious love tunes commonly employed at a wedding. No, this is not to say love tunes are a weak choice as much as it is to point out that upbeat friendly songs have their place as well.

Since the cutting of the cake is an unforgettable moment, would it not be appropriate that it is accompanied by Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable?" Some may think the song is a little bit too serious but it really is not. It is a bright and cheerful song that will certainly prove memorable.

The garter toss remains one of the more fun moments of a wedding. Would it not be appropriate to select a fun song to accompany it along the lines of "Legs" by ZZ Top? This is quickly becoming one of the more popular wedding songs of a newer generation that was raised on music videos and pop culture. It is also a fun song that most people will find a nice inclusion to the festivities.

And even the glory of a festive event such as a wedding must come to an end. This, of course, necessitates a last dance and among the absolute best inclusions for a song would be "Always and Forever" by Heatwave. This is a tremendous selection to play as the guests exit the banquet hall and it sets the perfect sentiment for the marriage. That is, it infers the marriage will be one of eternal love which is clearly an excellent sentiment to put forth.

Of course, there are many other selections that are considered to be among the most popular wedding songs. The ones listed herein are certainly among those people find to be most memorable. Including them into a wedding would certainly be a positive decision.

Top 10 Mistakes People Make When Trying to Become Professional Musicians

If you want to become successful in the music industry, there many things you need to know and do. But even if you get all that right, you can prevent yourself from reaching big success by making critical mistakes along the way (and there are many potential mistakes one could make, when not being careful). After coaching and mentoring many musicians and bands seeking a career in music, the same patterns of false assumptions, problems and mistakes appear over and over again. Here are the top 10.

Mistake #10 - Not having a compelling image that is congruent with your music. Most musicians (and bands) severely underestimate the importance of their image. Yes, music is about 'music', but music business success is about a total package that includes music, image and visual stage show among other things that need to be fully developed in a congruent way.

Mistake #9 - Trying to 'get your name out there'. Although this seems to be a main goal of most musicians and bands, it is the wrong approach to start with. Before trying to be seen and heard as much as possible, it is often more important to focus on 'converting' the people who hear and see you into becoming actual fans. This 'conversion' is the first key to your promotional success, NOT getting seen or heard as much as possible.

Mistake #8 - Believing that social media websites are the keys to online music promotion for musicians and bands. Social media websites are a tool. They are ONE piece of the online music marketing puzzle. Music industry companies (record labels, artist managers, booking agents, etc.) are far more interested in the popularity of YOUR website, not how many friends you have at MySpace, YouTube, Facebook or any other website that you do not own and control. Want to impress the industry with your band's promotion? Build your website traffic.

Mistake #7 - Not investing enough time into building your music career. Most musicians spend most of their time on music, but put very little effort into the many other critical elements needed to make it in the music business. If you are already a talented musician, you should invest at least 50% of your time into starting or advancing your music career. If you are still developing your musical skills, you should still invest around 25% of your 'music' time into building a future music career.

Mistake #6 - Surrounding yourself with people who are negative, lazy and lack ambition. If you are very serious about becoming a professional musician and building a great career in music, then you absolutely must surround yourself with like-minded musicians.

Mistake #5 - Having merely mediocre live performing skills. Many musicians, who are not yet in a good band, put off developing their live performing and stage presence skills. This is a big reason why talented musicians don't get into really good bands that they audition for. Your music may be good, but a live 'show' requires more than great music. If people only wanted to hear the music, they would listen to you at home. Both fans and record labels want (and expect) to see a REAL show. Neglecting this area results in talented musicians and bands becoming quickly forgotten.

Mistake #4 - Focusing on increasing the 'quantity' of fans instead of the 'intensity' of your fans. The 'number' of fans you have should always be your secondary focus (not your primary one) if you want to become successful in the music industry. The fact is, it is not the number of 'fans' that matters most, it's the number of FANATICS which will contribute more directly to your success (or lack of it). This is particularly true in the beginning of a band's music career. Focus more effort on converting your existing fans into raving fanatics. Learn to do this and the number of your overall fans will increase through powerful word of mouth.

Mistake #3 - Not enough cash flow to support your music career. Like it or not, it takes money to build a music career. Even if other people/companies are paying for your record, tour support, merchandise, etc. you still need to have the freedom to pursue opportunities as they come. Sadly, many musicians miss opportunities because they can't afford to take advantage of them.In addition to a decent income, you also need the flexibility of being able to take time away from that income source to go into the studio, go on tour, etc. That is why learning how to teach guitar is such a great way to achieve both if you learn how to become a highly successful guitar teacher.

Mistake #2 - Not enough depth in your music relationships. There's an old expression, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." In music this is often modified to, "It's not who you know, it's who knows you." The truth is, it's not about either. The most important aspect of connections within the music industry is how deep are the current relationships you have now and will develop in the future. You don't want to simply know people or be known, you want people who know you to have a real deep connection with you so that you are always on the top of their mind when opportunities present themselves. Ask yourself, "What can I do right now to deepen my existing relationships further on an ongoing basis?"

Mistake #1 - Having a fundamental misunderstanding about what record companies look for - and expect from new bands. This is a huge topic, but in a nutshell it's very useful to think of record companies like a bank that lends money to people or small businesses. Record companies make most of their decisions about whom they will work with and what the terms will be in much the same way that a bank will determine who they will loan money to and what the terms of the loan will be. Both record companies and banks basically want to see 3 things:

1. How much value do you bring to the deal right now.
2. How much risk do you bring with you right now.
3. How much potential value and risk might you bring to them in the future after they invest in you.

If you want to buy a house, the bank wants to know a lot about the specific house you want to buy and EVEN MORE about YOU. Record companies are the exact same, they want to know about your music, your talent and your band, but they also care as much (or more) about YOU (and your band mates) as people. What about YOU makes a record deal a good or bad investment for them.

Top 20 Beatles Hits

The premier rock group was formed in Liverpool, England in the late 1950's. When they first started out, The Beatles went under such names as The Quarrymen, Johnny and the Moondogs, The Rainbows, and the Silver Beatles, before settling on the Beatles in 1960.

The original lineup consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best. In April 1961, Sutcliffe left the group and died of a brain hemorrhage, one year later. Best left in 1962 and was replaced with Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr.

From there on, the group remained, until Paul McCartney announced their breakup on April 10, 1970. The group was managed by Brian Epstein, who died of a sleeping pill overdose in 1967 and they were produced by George Martin.

The Beatles first U.S. tour came in February, 1964. That was also the year they won the Best New Artist Grammy Award. They also earned Grammy's Trustees Award in 1972. In 1968 they became owners of the Apple record label.

They appeared in the movies "A Hard Day's Night" in 1964, "Help!" in 1965 and "Magical Mystery Tour" in 1967. They also provided the voices in the 1968 cartoon "Yellow Submarine."

According to Billboard magazine, The Beatles topped the singles charts twenty times and made it onto the weekly Top 40, forty-nine times, between 1964 and 1976. The closest artist to come to this record is Elvis Presley, who went to #1 eighteen times. Below, are The Beatles 20 biggest hits, all number one. Many of the Beatles B-sides also cracked the top 40 and are duly noted.

1. Hey Jude - 1968 - The number one song of 1968 and the B-side, "Revolution" going to #12 on the weekly charts.

2. I Want To Hold Your Hand - 1964 - The Beatles first U.S. hit with the B-side "I Saw Her Standing There" also going Top 20.

3. Get Back - 1969 - This hit featured Billy Preston as well as on the B-side "Don't Let Me Down."

4. Can't Buy Me Love - 1964

5. Yesterday - 1965 - This song has the significance of having more than 2500 recorded versions of it.

6. I Feel Fine - 1964 - The B-side of this song, "She's A Woman" went to #4 on the weekly charts.

7. Help! - 1965 - This song is the title song from the film of the same name. The film "Help!" was originally titled, "Eight Arms to Hold You."

8. We Can Work It Out - 1966 - The flip side, "Day Tripper" went to #5. Stevie Wonder took a cover version of this song to #13 in 1971.

9. Hello Goodbye - 1967

10. She Loves You - 1964 - "Sie Lieb Dicht", the Beatles German version of this song also hit the Billboard charts in 1964.

11. Let It Be - 1970 - The title song from the documentary film.

12. A Hard Day's Night - 1964 - Another title song, this one from The Beatles first movie.

13. Paperback Writer - 1966 - The B-side, "Rain" made it to #23 on the weekly charts.

14. The Long And Winding Road - 1970 - Also from the documentary film "Let It Be" and the Beatles last #1 single.

15. Eight Days A Week - 1965 - "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party" was the B-side of this hit single and just barely cracked the weekly Top 40.

16. Come Together - 1969 - The flip side of this single, "Something" went to #3 on the weekly charts.

17. Love Me Do - 1964 - This song and the B-side, "P.S. I Love You" were both recorded in September 1962 and featured Andy White on drums and newly added band member, Ringo Starr on tambourine.

18. Ticket To Ride - 1965 - Another song featured in the film "Help!"

19. Penny Lane - 1967 - Another two sided hit, this time featuring "Strawberry Fields Forever" going to #8 on the weekly charts.

20. All You Need Is Love - 1967 - Featuring "Baby You're A Rich Man" as the B-side.

The Beatles were able to crack the weekly Top 10 charts one more time. Six years after the dissolution of the band, in 1976, and ten years after the release of their album "Revolver" the single, "Got To Get You Into My Life" went to #7.

All four Beatles had #1 songs, after The Beatles were no more. The Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. They will forever be known as the world's #1 rock group.

Top 5 Groom And Mother Wedding Music Options

When it comes to choosing the best groom and mother wedding music, there are quite a few factors that you should take into consideration for it to be a memorable and special time at your wedding. The groom and his mother can choose music that has a special meaning for the both of them or it can just be a lovely sentimental song with no meanings attached. Here are the top things to look for:

1. The song that you choose must be appropriate. If you play something like "Highway to Hell" for example, this will not convey any positive or appropriate emotions and it will be very hard to dance to as well!

2. The song should be a slow song. While some people enjoy boogying to dance tracks, the song that is danced between the groom and his mother will be a slower number that is more suited to both ages.

3. It can be instrumental. As many slow songs are love songs and not very appropriate for a man to dance with his mom, you can choose an instrumental number that will still be great to dance to.

4. The best way for your groom to choose his song, is to sit down with his mother and listen to a few examples. Write down a few favorites and then decide from a list of the top 5 songs. Listen to the words, the speed and the length bearing in mind that you can cut the song, or have others join in half way through.

5. There are thousands of songs and choices and one way of getting some help is to find a website where you can listen to samples for free that are specifically used for groom and mother wedding music.

Top Five Questions Asked About Taking a Zumba Fitness Class

Zumba is now internationally known as a fun, calorie-burning dance-exercise program. This exercise format is frequently featured in the news. Many people are intrigued by this workout that feels like you are attending a party. As more and more people learn about it they are being drawn to Zumba classes all over the world.

When new students come to my classes they have many questions. The class is a fusion of fitness, aerobics and several types of dance styles. This may create some confusion as to what to expect. Do you wear clothes for dancing or exercising? Do you have to know how to dance? Do you have to be in shape?

Here are some answers to the top five questions asked about taking a Zumba class.

What is it? Many people are not sure if it is hip-hop dancing, latin dancing, or some new form of aerobics. The concept for the class was actually created when Beto Perez, a fitness and dance professional from Columbia, forgot his music for a traditional aerobic class he was about to teach. Improvising, he used music that he had on him which was his favorite latin music. Needless to say, the class was a hit. One of the characteristics of a traditional aerobic dance class is that the music usually has a monotonous steady beat. In contrast, Zumba uses regular songs with lyrics, choruses and changes in rhythm. The class is a combination of dance and fitness moves. The dance portion is 70 percent latin using such steps as salsa, merengue, and reggaeton. The rest may be a combination of other world rhythms such as bellydance, African or hip-hop. The fitness moves may include muscle toning exercises such as squats, bicep curls and plyometric jumps or running in place. The emphasis of the program is to teach choreography that is simple and easy. Zumba also affects the participant mentally by releasing stress and creating joy with its party-like atmosphere. Another unique characteristic of Zumba is that it is usually taught using visual cues so that the students can immerse themselves in the music.

What if I am out of shape, uncoordinated or cannot dance? Whenever somebody is new to exercise or trying out a class for the first time I tell them to talk to the instructor to make the instructor aware of this. Then I tell them to do whatever they can do. Some people start out doing only ten minutes of the class and then increase it each time they repeat the class. Students can even sit out some songs to rest. The steps and moves can be modified by trading high impact for low impact. For example, instead of doing the jumps just step in place. A non-dancer will learn how to dance quickly. The dance steps are repeated class to class. After a few weeks even an uncoordinated person will become more adept at dancing. If someone is still intimidated by the class they can look for a Zumba Gold class which is taught slower.

Can I start the class on any week? Many people are not sure if they should join a class that has already been established. Most classes are taught on an ongoing basis and perhaps a few are taught with limited sessions. This means that new students just jump right in! The format is taught in simple easy steps and new students should be able to improve their skills in a few weeks.

What do I wear to class? It seems it should be obvious to wear exercise clothes to this class. However it is the dancing that causes some confusion. This is a high energy class and you will sweat. Wear comfortable clothes that will keep you cool. Fitness wear that stretches and allows you to move easily is the best. In addition, bring plenty of water to drink.

What type of shoes do I wear? The best shoes to wear are cross-trainers or dance-fitness shoes that have little or no tread on the bottom of the shoe. Shoes that have multi-directional support and have some shock absorption are best. Save the heels for your ballroom lessons.

The Top 10 Stress Relievers

There are numerous ways on how to lessen pressures and tension. If you are already feeling the stress, this article is right for you! I have discussed here the top ten stress relievers to help you prevent the stress and to relax. Keep on reading and start living normally!

1. Breathing Exercises.

As the American Institute of Stress president Paul Rosch puts it, beating stress is just a matter of releasing yourself from that stressful situation and catching few breaths. Deep breathing is an effortless stress reliever that gives numerous benefits to the body. One of these benefits is oxygenating the blood that leads to waking up of brain, quieting of mind and relaxing of muscles. These exercises are also helpful because it can be done anytime and anywhere and can relieve you from stress very fast.

Deep breathing is very healthy since it includes not only the lungs but the diaphragm and abdomen. This pushes full oxygen exchange throughout the lungs and chest.

2. Meditation.

Meditation had long been included in the history of Hinduism and Buddhism and although it's considered as a spiritual practice, this can also be an effective stress reliever. This stress reliever is further than deep breathing. Meditation focuses the energy of mind on a symbol, sound or comforting image; the brain enters its part of functioning similar to sleep.

The purpose is to create a deep state of tranquility and relaxation while improving your mental focus. The mental focus keeps the mind from working and thus increases the stress level. Meditation also releases certain hormones which promote health.

3. Guided Imagery.

Practice is needed to get used to guided imagery. This is a great stress reliever that relaxes the body. Some finds it easier than the yoga because it is easier for them to focus on something than on nothing. To have a more immersive experience, you can play natural sounds for your background.

4. Visualization.

This stress reliever is further than guided imagery. You may imagine yourself becoming healthier and relaxed, handling conflicts better and achieving goals. You can visualize yourself listening to waves, lying on the beach or feeling the gentle breeze and warm sun. You can also visualize an erotic fantasy and picture yourself in your happiest state.

5. Self-hypnosis.

This incorporates some of the elements of visualizations and guided imagery with more benefits. It enables a person to directly communicate to his subconscious. This improves his abilities to feel less pain, to easily give up bad habits and develop healthier ones.

6. Exercise.

A lot of people exercise to have a good physical condition and to control weight but it can also be a good stress reliever. Exercise can be an outlet for frustrations; it can give distractions for stressful situations. Exercise can also provide a lift via endorphins. Any form of exercise can help you discard stress but there are activities which alleviate tension. Ask a health care provider of an exercise program that suits your needs.

7. Progressive Muscle Relaxation.

By relaxing and tensing all the muscle groups of the body, one can relieve stress and feel more relaxed in just minutes. There's no need for a special equipment or training. Begin by tensing the muscles of the face, grimacing for 10 seconds and completely relaxing for 10 seconds after. Repeat the steps with the neck, shoulders and so forth. Another relaxation technique is to curl your toes against your feet soles as hard as you can. Do this for 15 seconds.

8. Sex.

This is an excellent stress reliever and can give lots of benefits. It's sad though that many people who have high stress levels have less sex.

9. Music.

Music therapy provides numerous benefits for people with mild to severe stress levels. The right music can actually lower stress level and relax the body and mind. Keep your music player loaded with enjoyable and relaxing music and keep it handy.

10. Yoga.

This is one of the oldest self-enhancement techniques. It incorporates the stress management techniques like meditation, breathing, movement and imagery.

There are many benefits of yoga to health. This includes increase in body awareness, relief to muscle tension, relaxation of mind and body, sharp and toned muscle and improved flexibility.

The above techniques are proven to be effective in relieving stress. People at different age groups require a certain stress reliever that fits their needs. It will always be safe to consult a doctor about your needs.

Use these stress relievers and start living worry and stress free from now on!

7 Top Reasons Why Music is So Important

Everyone loves music. Music is everywhere, it pervades our world. Everyone knows music has power and importance. But have you ever stopped to consider why? What it is about music that gives it so much power and importance?

Here are seven top reasons:

Music is a universal language. It inspires common human feelings and bridges gaps between cultures that spoken languages cannot. It brings people together and creates universal community.

Music inspires and evokes emotion in a healthy way. It touches our emotional being and evokes moods and feelings that are sometimes difficult to express. It can change a difficult mood and make it happy or excited; it can change a light mood and take it deeper and more profound.

Music enhances learning and makes it more enjoyable. It is scientifically proven that music enhances brain functioning. Playing music uses many brain functions simultaneously: motor control, imagination, hearing, sight, memory, etc.

Music creates ambiance. You can use music in any environment to enhance and augment what is already there. Consider the difference between a party with music and one without, or a sporting event, or a movie, or a romantic restaurant, or driving in your car...

Music is spiritual. Music is of the spirit and inspirational to the spirit. All religions use music to help express spiritual values, and all religions use music to uplift the spirit.

Music sparks the imagination. It invokes mental imagery and inner scenery that opens the mind to amazing insight and spans the distance between the stars.

Music is a simple pleasure. All it takes is your ears and your imagination.

I believe that at the center of the phenomenon of the magic that music creates is the spiritual aspect. Music is a gift from God, a sacred expression of the Universal Life Force Energy that creates us all.

Reading Notes on Sheet Music

If you have ever stopped to look at a piece of sheet music you will have noticed many different shapes ranged across the page. Many look like circles that might or might not be totally filled in. Some may look connected by a couple lines or more. There are other strange symbols as well. What does this all mean?

Is sheet music written in some strange language that only a musician can understand? The answer to that is a resounding no! While it can seem daunting at first sheet music is not extremely difficult to read once you know and understand the different types of notes and symbols you are looking at.

The note structure for most sheet music follows the same basic rules. A whole note is the first note that you should be able to recognize easily. It looks like an open circle and will occupy one full measure (the space between two of the vertical bars which are placed at even integrals across the staff. A whole note is one that is held for the full measure of a beat.

A whole note that falls under different time signatures will not be held for the same length of time however. A whole note in 4/4 time will be held for a full four beats whereas one in 3/4 time will only be held for three beats. This difference aside the whole note will always be considered a whole note unless there is another bit of musical notation added which will be discussed later on.

The next type of note is a half note. This note will look like a small open circle with a line rising up from the right side. As the name implies this type of note will only be held for half the time that a whole note would be held. You will never see a whole note on the same measure as another note except in very specific time signatures which are the rare exception indeed.

Your next note will be a quarter note. Each of these notes in a measure are held for one-quarter of a beat. A quarter note will look just like a half note except the circle section will be completely filled. The other types of notes you will find will be drawn similar to the quarter notes except for one difference.

It is this difference that will determine the length of the beat for which the note will be held. Eighth notes for example are joined at the top of their vertical lines by a bar that crosses from one note to the next. It is this single bar at the top that will let you know that the notes are held for one eighth of a beat apiece. The same will go for sixteenth notes which are joined by two bars at the top and thirty second notes which are joined by three bars at the top of the note. Once you can recognize these different types of notes you will learning sheet music before you know it.

Singing and playing the guitar is really a wonderful thing. It gives me so much joy and peace and... well, a lot of wonderful feelings.

I have been playing for a while now. 35 years have passed since the first time I picked up my brother's guitar for the first time, in attempt to play the durned wooden sound thingy.

As beginners we have enough to think about, trying to get our fingers to do as they are told. Struggling with chords ain't the easiest thing, and on top of that we try not to sing off-beat or off-key. Arpeggios and stuff doesn't even exist.

But the time comes when we can handle that. The shifting between chords runs smoothly we can sometimes even remember the lyrics. And sometimes we get bored of just strumming up and down, up down down, up up down...well, you know what I mean.

Take it to the next level with fingerpicking songs

Indian Music Vs Western Music

The Indian music characteristics are evident when you compare it with Western music. In both the systems you will find some essential differences: the Indian music is based on melody or single notes played in a given order, while the Western music is based on harmony: a group of notes known as chords played together.

Dr. Rabindranath Tagore who was well familiar with both the systems, explained the difference as follows: "The world by daylight stands for Western music which is a flowing concourse of vast harmony, composed of concord and discord and many disconnected fragments. And the night world stands for Indian music: one pure, deep and tender raga. Both, touches our heart, and yet both are contradictory in spirit. But this is natural. Nature, at the very root is divided into two, day and night, unity and variety, finite and infinite.

Indian men live in the realm of night; we are inspired by the sense of the One and Infinite. Indian music draws away the listener beyond the boundaries of daily joys and sorrows and takes us to the solitary space of renunciation which exists at the root of the universe, while Western music leads us to dance through a limitless rise and fall of human joy and grief.

" Indian classical music basically stirs our spiritual sense and discipline - a longing for realization of the self salvation. Singing is a worshipping act and not an intellectual exhibition of mastery on the technique of a raga. In Western culture, singing is a formal and secular exercise, and does not involve piety or devotion as compared to Indian music

The teacher-student (Guru-Shishya) tradition in Indian music is responsible for the deep dedication and attachment of the student to the teacher. In the West, a music teacher is taken as a hired person who teaches lessons and there is no deep attachment between the teacher and student.

Like Western music, Indian music too is based on melody and rhythm, but it has no foundation of harmony which is so significant in Western music. Indian music is "modal" - based on the relationship between the permanent individual notes known as tonic, with the successive notes. This is the reason why Tanpura (drone) is played in the background of Indian music which reminds one of the tonic notes.

The Indian classical music system is horizontal; one note follows the other, while the Western music is vertical; many notes played at a time. Yehudi Menuhin, the noted musician, highlights the differentiates both systems by describing Indian music as: "for appreciating Indian music one has to adopt totally a different set of values... one must orientate oneself and at least for the concerned period, forget the passing of time and just sink into a kind of thematic, almost hypnotic trance. The rhythmic and melodic features of Indian music that are repetitive, acquires an extraordinary charm and fascination... despite the domination of this hypnotic mood's domination, which is an Indian music characteristic, actively frees the mind."

The place of "composition" in these two systems is notably different. In Western music, the music is first composed by the composer and arranges it in notation: then the musicians play this composition under the guidance of a music conductor. Here improvisation hardly takes place, and the performance value lies in the uniformity and the pre-determined conduct of tone and music speed (tempo). In Indian music, while the melody grammar and rhythm is fixed, the ingenuity and skill of the musician lies in his creativity and improvisation, especially in mood evocation and rasa of a particular raga.

In this context, an international musicologist has written: "In the West, solid blocks of music are constructed. After carving out like building stones, the seven degrees of diatonic scale, lined up and placed on top of each other with cleverly worked out harmony and counterpoint. In this way fantastic edifices in sound are erected.

In Indian classical music, no one can think of dividing sound into blocks; instead it is refined into a wire-thin thread. The sound is stretched out to refine it to an extreme point of delicacy... No standard materials, no building of three or five floors, but just like silk thread which unfold and rises and falls and evokes a world of sensations and feelings."

In music of India, melody and rhythm offer a variety of subtleties, which is not possible in Western music. Indian notes are divided into units called shruties (22 microtones), whereas Western music consist of 12 semitones. The microtones are more subtle than semitones. These microtones adorned with gracetones (gamakas) create a magical effect.

Western music has the capacity of producing many feelings and moods. While Indian music, has the capacity to produce a principal emotion or a mood in a raga. An Indian musician improvises with his own creative genius within a raga's framework, but in Western classical music, except in jazz, such an improvisation is inconceivable. Moreover, the percussion in Indian music emphasizes its rhythm. It is only through keeping one's mind and ears open that one is able to appreciate the melodies and sequences different from one's own. This applies to Indian audiences attending Western music performances, and to Western audiences attending music of India concerts. Just remember that the both music systems are complementary, like two halves of classical music.

Five Top Safety Tips for Long Distance Driving

The goal of long distance driving is to get to your destination safely. We all know someone who says, "The time to get there is usually six hours; I did it in four and a half!" Speed should not be your primary focus. If you focus on getting there in the fastest amount of time, mistakes and errors in judgment can be made. Here are five tips to reach your destination in one piece.

1. Have a Current AAA Plus Membership Card with you. This annual membership provides 24-hour roadside service. The regular card will only transport your car to the nearest repair shop, give a battery charge, or change a tire for a fee of under $50. The AAA Plus card provides additional services. They will tow you for 100 miles for free, a definite convenience for long distance driving. The AAA plus also allows free fuel service, and a $750 traffic accident continuation trip if you are 50 miles or more from home.

2. Do Not Use Cruise Control. Long distance driving can have a hypnotic and fatiguing effect. Cruise control emphasizes and enhances that effect. Especially if you are tired, cruise control's ability to stay at the same speed can quickly lull you into sleep. Your eyes can close at that critical moment when traffic slows down, and you're still driving at 70 miles per hour. Lose control of the car, and you have an accident waiting to happen. Drive the car on your own so you can speed up or stop at a moment's notice as needed.

3. Don't Eat Heavy Food during the trip. You are going to be sitting and stationary for several hours at a time. Fast food in your stomach will give you a bloated and heavy feeling. Heavy and greasy food like double cheeseburgers, French fries, pizza, fried chicken and biscuits will contribute to the desire to take a nap. Better to eat light food like salads, soup, fruit cups and juice during the trip to keep your head clear. Coffee or hot chocolate is always a safe bet for long distance driving.

4. Stop and Get Rest in a Safe Place. Contrary to popular belief, boyfriends and husbands, long distance driving demands frequent rest stops. Fatigue can overtake you quickly, especially if you only watch the road in front of you instead of taking in the scenery while you drive. Be aware of overall discomfort, muscle aches in the neck, arms and shoulders. This is your body telling you it needs a break. When your tank is half empty, take bathroom and gasoline breaks at the same time. Stop in the refreshment area, walk around, clear your head, get some food, and then take a nap. Never park in the outskirts of a rest stop; park near another car or truck. Parking next to a van with a traveling family is always a safe bet. Park in front of a fast food restaurant, and then go to sleep. You may be surprised to see another driver next to your car doing the same thing!

5. Listen to Fast, Upbeat Music. This is not the time to listen to classical music or talk radio. Unless the topic is something that excites you, talk radio can lower your alertness. Instead, listen to upbeat music, especially anything that makes you want to sing along. Play music you haven't heard before, like Hip Hop, Salsa, or Reggae. Change the radio station whenever you reach a new state. Bring some tapes you enjoy, or have a tape made of fast, stimulating music just for your long distance drives.

Long distance driving can and should be a fun experience. The quality of the drive should be better than the quantity of arriving at your destination quickly, but exhausted. Use these tips on your next trip, and see the change in your driving attitude.

Facts About Rap Music

Rap is poetry, over cool & groovy beats despite what any other people say. It has survived the test of time becoming stronger and stronger in the music business. Many people believed when rap started it was just a passing faze, but the domination of rap has grown to superstar status with many rap stars now enjoying film careers and millionaire lifestyles that exceeded many famous sports men and actors . The new rap stars have millions and millions of die hard fans giving them huge potential earnings from advertising big company products.

While hip-hop is known to have originated in the East Coast, particularly the Bronx, New York, the roots of gangster rap are accredited to the West Coast, particularly, Compton, California. Gangster rap is a subset of hip-hop music that originated in the 1990s when rapper Ice Cube and his former group, NWA.

Many lyrically-inclined rappers are likable when consumed in small doses, but they can also get mind-numbingly boring while trying to hold down an entire album. Rap music is hated by many people that believe in the stereo type that only blacks make rap, and it's always about shooting cops, drugs, money and sex. However, the truth is that music originating from the underground probably has more meaning to it.

30 years since, Hip-Hop has evolved in many directions, from the Alternative Rap sounds of A Tribe Called Qwest, to Surge Knight's gangster roster on Death Row Records, to the huge commercial success of 50 Cent and talented newcomers Blackalicious. It has also for the very first time this year been the number one act at Glastonbury with Jay z bringing the house down with his entrance singing the oasis song wonder wall.

How to Sing Harmony - Do You Know the Top 3 Secrets to Boost Your Singing Skills?

As a vocal coach, many aspiring singers ask me whether they should focus on harmony singing during their daily practice. What always surprises me is that many people don't know how to sing harmony at all! However, I can tell you that singing harmony with other people can be one of the most fun aspects of learning to sing. So just read on if you want to know the top 3 secrets to learn singing harmony with multiple people - but you can also practice alone!

There are a few secrets to practice harmony singing that you will need to remember. These are as follows:

1) Don't only practice your own singing part but also the parts of the other singers. This is extremely important because it will help you gain a better understanding of the piece you are singing as a whole, and you will also become less insecure about singing your own part, as you will always know where exactly you are in the piece. Of course you should primarily practice your own part, but don't forget the others!

2) When singing with other people, find the correct balance to make your own voice fit in. Don't become too loud or try to "out-sing" the other singers. When people tell me they don't know how to sing harmony, this is often one of their major problems. They simply can't find the right place within the group they are singing with. This also means that you should not simply practice harmony singing at home! Actually singing with the rest of the group is just as important.

3) Singing in a group means that you stand out less individually. However, this isn't an excuse to sing less well than you would try to sing when singing alone! So, when practicing your harmony part, you should practice it as if you were singing it alone.

If you are able to follow these tips, learning how to sing harmony should not be a problem for you anymore.
